So thrilled that you enjoyed "Gabrielle". Stephen's poetic lines just saturated my heart and then flowed into this. Thanks so much for the encouraging comments.
Hey Ed, I'm sorry we didn't get to collaborate. If you're interested in putting something together, feel free to reach out to me via my website (www.floanito.com)!
Thanks for listening to "I Wear the Scar." Yes, lucky for me I am now in "100 Days of Ukulele" and continue my focus on songwriting -- so this one will get made.
Thanks for reading "I Love Paper." Based on your kind comments I put the scones and muffins in a paperbag. Btw, the lyrics need music, If you're interested.
Thank you, I'm happy you enjoyed "Magnetic Rose". It's from a challenge in the forums called the digital 4 track. If you're rather into tapes, there's the analog equivalent called the 4 track challenge. But somehow, we missed on the 4 tracks and went for a 4 person band instead xD It's such fun to participate and listen to the songs, cause most people don't know each other and the first person who records has no idea about the final song!
Thanks for visiting the "Girl on the Radio". I'm gald it stirred memories for you, although getting up at 2:45 AM would not be a great memory for me. My average bed time is 2:00 AM.
Thank you for your comment on my Polyglot song!
Yep, those are the languages in there! I thought about trying to squeeze in Hawaiian too but I couldn't seem to manage. Maybe next time . . .
I feel ya - I don't have room for a piano either but I do have 3 keyboards (2 of which are stacked on top of each other). My virtual students always ask why 3 and I explain 1 is for gigs, one is for teaching, and 1 is for recording (but I havent used that for FAWM cuz I can't manage more than camera phone videos at this pace).
Thanks for listening and commenting on "Shrinkwrap!" I'm glad you liked it. And it's been a decade or more since I heard '65 Love Affair; I don't know how that popped into my head!
Thanks for your comment on "Fight or Flight"! Improv is the type of music I'm most comfortable with; it doesn't always work out perfectly, but that's part of the appeal. And the balafon does look like a box of cigars at first glance.
For me, the greatest joy of this challenge isn't getting lyrics down on paper (I more often than not feel relieved rather than gratified once it's all out; that I've been able to see an idea through to something complete and articulate) but having someone else come along, say that the words have inspired them to do some creating of their own, and then see what sensitive, thoughtful and innovative thing they have done with my humble offering of words.
Ha! Loved your Simpsons reference in your comment on “Flaming June.” I looked it up, and actually flaming June is not just a phrase people say about the weather sometimes but also a really cool looking painting that I now love.
love your comment on "twin flakes" I suppose if I wanted to go full cereal jingle/ parody song I might have to steal that "part of a completely disfunctional breakfast" line
Hi Ed - Well, if it's in your wheelhouse, then who am I to refuse? 3 Wise Men was all so long ago, and I think the fandom is crying out for a second single. You have my blessing to take the lyric wherever you wish :)
That's okay, I'm too much of a goody-two-shoes to break the rules of FAWM. I'll just write some lyrics and pass them along to you, if that's how you prefer to work. :)
Ah, okay, I wasn't necessarily thinking of doing lyrics first. Truth be told, I have a hard time writing lyrics without writing a melody in my head at the same time. But I do pretty well writing lyrics to music provided for me. But if you'd rather work off of lyrics, I could work with that, just might take a bit of a gear shift for me.
Hey Ed! Looks like we're paired up for the random collab challenge -- exciting! Based on your profile, seems like a good match would be for you to compose some music, and I can write lyrics and sing on top of it? But I'm open to switching things up or taking a different approach if you prefer -- let me know! And my email is on my profile, so feel free to take the convo over to email, if you prefer. :) Looking forward to our collab!
Two or three ideas that I have for lyrics will definitely work for you (say I with supreme confidence!). Once I've finished one of them, I'll send it to you rather than posting it and give you a chance to say yea or nay.
