Hi there from Germany! 👋 2022 was my first 50/90, 2023 will be my first FAWM. You'll usually find me over on https://www.musesongwriters.com, and sometimes the German https://recording.de.

A classical he/him/his, born 1981, I work as a software developer and have been making music as a hobby all my life. I play the classical guitar, but because of my love for all sorts of instruments and styles I mostly make all music in the box. 🤷‍♂️

50/90 2022 helped me break my tendency to overthink things, and get in touch with other musicians for a little fun. So, of course I'll keep coming back. 😄

In that spirit, I'm open for collaborations of all kinds! If you'd like to redo/cover something I did, or need some help with your tracks, or you'd like some insight into my libraries, settings, projects, just post me a message. 🙂

Feel free to criticize *anything* about my songs, incl. bad recording, being out of tune, whatever. As a non-native speaker, I especially welcome all language advice, be it words, phrases, or simply grammar and spelling - these things really help me improve my language skills, so don't hold back!

Please don't read it as impolite if I don't say thank you for one of your comments. I definitely appreciate them! It's just that I want to listen to lots of your songs, so I'll rather listen and comment your songs than posting thank yous on your board. 😀

Oh, and if I comment one of your songs, I have listened to it completely, at least once, more probably several times over. Yes, even if it is well beyond 4 minutes. Okay, except for (@)elesimo's 696 hours song. 🤣

@phylo
Florian, thanks so much for your generous and kind comment on Back In The Day. I appreciate it.
[avatar]
Ganz lieben Dank für Deinen begeisterten Kommentar zu meinem Narzissten-Blues!
[avatar]
Hi Florian, I sent you my message.
Thank you.

@nadine
Thanks for your comment on "Overjoyed", Florian! I enjoy swing but it's hard to write, if you never played and have no idea about jazz theory. Tried so often an failed. Noodling a pentatonic always works but its a bit predictable. I'll reach out to your recommendation. Thanks also for your offer on the brass arrangement. I'll write that down and come back to you when I know how to continue on that song.
[avatar]
Thanks for the kind words! My voice is a wide ranging instrument, capable of many styles!
[avatar]
Thank you for the flattering comments on the Ghost Layers!
[avatar]
@owling
Thanks a lot for your comments. I like a lot the idea of rewriting Greensleeves from the Lady's perspective indeed. I guess it has already been done, but it can be really funny. I imagine her being very annoyed by the guy and trying to avoid him.
For my french song, thanks a lot but I doubt my wordplay is that clever. I guess I wanted it to rhyme so badly that some verses are clumsy, which can also explain why Google fails to translate it !
[avatar]
Thanks for checking out the draft of "Your Practical Magic" right after I posted it. You definitely helped shape my revisions. :)
[avatar]
Those strings are... not cheap. I better stick to my goal of never trying to do 'realistic' strings again!
[avatar]
"Definitely something else" is the story of my life I think :)
[avatar]
@kristi
Awesome on sharing "After All This Time" on Soundcloud. Will go do that now. Thank you!
[avatar]
Happy to hear you enjoyed "Through The Noise"! It's one of my favorites now that I've had some time with it.
[avatar]
Super job on the stitching for our harmony song challenge! Do remember to add it to the forum post too as folks from there will enjoy listening 🤗 (the honour of adding it there is yours as stitcher!) Thank you!
[avatar]
Thank you for your comment on Unity! I'm not a singer myself but I'm happy to collaborate(refining lyrics, etc) with singers if you/they want to take it on!
[avatar]
I emailed you a rough draft of a chorus idea... feel free to nix it...
[avatar]
i'm so pumped!! I just imported it into Pro Tools and all is good. A few questions... 1) any chance you have a chord chart? 2) is it ok if I edit the tracks? maybe do different bass or drums? 3) Is it ok if i tweak the melody in places when needed for the feel of a lyric? Thank you!!!!
[avatar]
Hi Florian, please feel free to join me on "Helping Myself". I like what you have done so far. You wouldn't by any chance be familiar with the bands Breeze, or Kist, or Barbed Wire? My good friend Henry Mittnacht has worked with me for years, we even have a video featuring singers from all 3 of these bands:

@esc4p3
Thanks Florian. This just confirmed something I had been wondering. I have Electric Sunburst with Komplete Standard, but I 'need' the Deluxe version. I may wait until the next Native Instruments sale 😄
[avatar]
@esc4p3
Hi Florian, I really like 'Tell Me You Love Me'. Do you mind me asking which guitar vst did you use on the track, assuming it wasn't a real one!!
[avatar]
Wow! That is amazing! Thank you very much.
[avatar]
Go ahead, I'd love to hear what you come up with.
[avatar]
Hi Florian,
Thanks for your comments on my Black Dress With A Beard lyrics. Like your idea of it including a solemn church choral. Can imagine that working well! Yes, there have been similar scandals to the one you mentioned in Ireland that I think have contributed strongly to younger generations' cynicism about the church and the hold that it used to exert
[avatar]
Hey! I wollte Dich nur kurz wissen lassen, dass ich einen Textvorschlag für "How could I be so wrong" als Kommentar unter das entsprechende Lied hinterlassen habe...
Liebe Grüße,
Arthur
[avatar]
Oh, and the lyrics are gibberish. It's basically vowel sounds that came to me as I was working out the melody. I considered a last-minute change to the chorus to remove all the 's' sounds to avoid sibilance, but changed mic to one that didn't have as much of a problem with that.
[avatar]
Haha, thanks! Wow, a real German!

In my defence, it's just a demo! Haha. Not even sure that guitar solo part should even be there, I think I was just annoyed I hadn't come up with another part. And vocals are my weak point - quickly recording all these demos, gotta get something that at least gets the idea across, move onto the next one. I will be sure to get Jim Kerr in next time.
[avatar]
@max
Thank you so much for the great suggestions on the song '403d!' . That was fun. Alas I was already demo recording the lyrics from this afternoon. So I went with that.
[avatar]
Danke für Deine Rückmeldung.
[avatar]
Hi, I sent it to the gmail address the envelope above links to?… could it be in junk/spam?
[avatar]
Hi Florian, I've just sent you my parts for song 5 for the Harmony Challenge. Have fun!
[avatar]
@nadine
Thanks for stopping by :) We're not finished yet, but I like the direction "Pay It Forward" is taking.
[avatar]
i get nothing but a 403 when i click on your skirmish
[avatar]
It never occurred to be that different parts of the world would have somewhat different relevant sayings, but of course that makes perfect sense! Thanks for educating me! 😄
[avatar]
Thanks for you kind comments on "Things we don't Have Anymore" I suspect if I have to explain the references the words are not as clever as I thought they were!. However a Bobby Soxer was a teenage female fan of Frank Sinatra in the late 40's/early 50s and a 78 was a shellac gramophone record (usually 10 inches in diameter) which played at 78 rpm and was replaced by the vinyl 7 inch single and the 12 inch LP. Brontosaur was a well known species of dinosaur in my youth , but has been re named Apatosaurus. Hope this helps.

@geoffs
Thanks for checking out my demo 2.10.23. Just plugged my guitar straight into the computer, using Garageband and headphones... so, no blasting guitars coming from my room (although the nurses kept asking me to play loud for them to hear... but... )
[avatar]
@rowanb
Thank you so much for your lovely feedback on my song, I’m so glad you liked it!
[avatar]
Thanks. I was trying to type with so namy mustakes...:)
[avatar]
@nadine
Hey! We just added vocals to "Pay it forward". Feel free to check, if you're curious!
[avatar]
¡Hola!
[avatar]
Thank you so much for your kind comment on my song Love the Rain!
[avatar]
Thank you for your comment on my song I'mma CCM Party Pooper! I do so like being out of the box(in this case, the ccm box lol) so your feedback made my day :)
[avatar]
Thanks for your comment on "Rats in Heaven." They can be amazing pets. :)
[avatar]
@nadine
Thanks for your kind words on "Pay It Forward". I'm curious about the next step!
[avatar]
Hi Flo,

Hope you are doing fine

I have listened to your songs, how beautiful and diverse your style is, you are amazing in choosing the right tone at right time

Also, I wanted to tell you, so far, i have posted 7 ideas sparks as lyrics, if you like, you may review them and see if one of them interest you to work your magic, or maybe inspire you with new ideas of your own

Best of luck, my dear friend, let us hit the sky 😄
[avatar]
Hi Florian. I love your take on Dandelion Tea. Would you email the file to me, as well as the instrumental track, to sheilerk67@gmail.com. Then I’ll add you and either you could post the link or I could 😊
[avatar]
@brisk
Ha ha, no offence taken! I was just suddenly anxious that I'd said something I didn't mean to say. But I don't think I did... did I?? (In other words, my brain was looking for reasons to be anxious!)
[avatar]
Glad you liked and commented at length on my song "A Winter's Tale". As a young man, I lived through a war (The War of Biafran Independence 1967-1970) and I never want to be even close to one ever again.
[avatar]
@flo
Hab mal per Mail geantwortet, um hier den Rahmen nicht zu sprengen :)
[avatar]
@flo
Hey Florian, bin direkt dabei!
[avatar]
@nadine
Hattest du im Forum nach einem gleichnamigen Collab Partner gesucht? Ich glaube mir ist gestern ein Flo über den Weg gelaufen.
[avatar]
@george
Thanks for Zong-busting Two True Ways for me!
[avatar]
Thanks for checking out "Mama Dang Left Us" glad you liked it!
[avatar]
thank you so much for your comment!! zag rocks and so does the hades ost
[avatar]
Thanks again for the info on Solaris! Happy continued FAWMing!
[avatar]
I love the software detail you provided me. Thank you! I do have one more question... Do you just type the words for Solaris to say, and you adjust the way in which she says annunciates them. That is the one thing I wasn't so sure about. I'm following you for more AI surprises. Thanks again! :)
[avatar]
Hi Floriam, thanks for the comment on my song: Margins of Desire
[avatar]
@johns
Thank you for your kind words, Florian much appreciated.
Regarding flamenco, I have to agree to differ on this one. Andres Correa is a flamenco artist in Cuba and the style is very much alive. But mainly, salsa and cha-cha have one too few syllables!

@kristi
Hello! I'm the lyric writer for our group in the Harmony Singers Challenge & just want to let you know I've been working on a lyric & am in touch with our melody writer/singer.
[avatar]
Cheers! And I've no idea what Gorgon will evolve into, maybe just become more layered, though I quite enjoyed singing it without accompaniment so it could go either way 😅 And absolutely, my inspiration was actually the ways I was expected to behave like my neurotypical peers and I never really quite managed it... But I think everyone has experienced expectations that they can't meet at some point, for sure.
[avatar]
@Florianhoffmann Thanks so much for the kind comments on "Winter Thaw". I almost pulled out my own Roland Aerophone and put a sax on this, but I knew I would get too into it. I have the SWAM sounds, and I play them too much when I pull them up!
[avatar]
@dutch
Thanks for busting my ZONG! Glad you liked the song. I'll be checking your music out!
[avatar]
Hi Florian, thank you so much for your warm commitment on inner strength. I would love to have an orchestration of this piece. Sheila is working on her lyrics. We can have an instrumental version or wait for the song, whichever you prefer :)
[avatar]
Thanks so much for your kind comment on "Come to see me in Naples". That would be fantastic! :-)
[avatar]
Thanks for your message on my song.
[avatar]
Hey, it's just a bunch of overdubs 😁
[avatar]
Thanks for the comment. I really should start making translations right away. I'm not that bad in english, but finnish lyrics is a pain in the ass to translate properly.
[avatar]
@nadine
Thanks a lot for your comment! Some days ago somebody posted a music game on Facebook and I got an harpsichord. I NEVER wrote a song with this instrument cause I hate it but then I had the perfect lyrics...
[avatar]
@clioem
Na servas!
Hi from Vienna :) Happy FAWM!!!!
[avatar]
Thanks for the advice regarding arrangements (for someone without music theory). I've taken it on board. Happy composing, Jon
[avatar]
Ha! I gave it a try on Nightcafe—I understand the ethical (and other) issues around AI art, but it *is* pretty amazing!

Hey Florian, Welcome aboard. I sent you an email... Check it out
Russ
[avatar]
Lol, now I feel the need to start a "Beard Card" challenge. You get goatee... you get van dyke... you get mountain man beard... (Actually, as you may know, there are formal categories at beard competitions; I was a judge at the US Nationals many years ago. 😀 ) But I doubt I'd get many participants in my challenge!

@mikeb
Happy FAWM 2023!
[avatar]
@tan482
Hmmm no specific ideas as of yet.. open to anything! I want to push my genre boundaries this year!
[avatar]
Happy FAWMIng!!!
[avatar]
@beacon
Glad to see you back. Still interested in doing a song in my style? That would be ganz interissant!
[avatar]
Came across your profile from the professions forum thread, and thought I'd check out your music as the only other software architect in the list! I like what you have on soundcloud and look forward to hearing what you put together this year.
[avatar]
@tan482
Happy FAWM! Would love to collaborate if you’re up for it?
[avatar]
Welcome back, Florian - dieses mal werde ich doch ein deutsches Lied machen.
[avatar]
Thanks for the info about Solaria! Hm, so it sounds like the entering of the text is similar to what I use now (AlterEgo), but you also enter the notes for each word? I'm used to just entering the text but playing the notes on my midi keyboard to make it "sing" - is that an option as well, or is it strictly drawing notes into the program?
Heh, guess I could just look it up myself lol Thanks, though...I love vocal synths/vocaloid type stuff, but the one I've been using is hard to understand sometimes and I've been using it forever...kinda want something new with a nicer voice.
[avatar]
@chroes
Hello von irgendwo ganz aus der Nähe! Freue mich auf deine Songs!
[avatar]
@nadine
Happy FAWM!
[avatar]
Hi Florian, thank you for your kind note. I'm as okay as possible. I'll keep creating whenever I possibly can. FAWM is a very inspiring place. I hope to hear your wonderful new songs. Maybe we collaborate on something :)
[avatar]
@jeff9
Greetings, Florian, and happy FAWMing!
[avatar]
Happy FAWM, Florian! I recently listened to your SoundCloud production, "Wild Horses". Beautiful work! I hope you have a month full of inspiration.
