INFLUENCES
KISS, AC/DC, Van Halen, The Who, The Clash, The Smiths, Elvis Presley, The Byrds, BiSH, Seiko Oomori, Charli XCX, Carly Rae Jepsen, The Replacements, The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, Megadeth, Iron Maiden, Yui, Bonnie Pink, Misfits, Ramones, Sex Pistols, Buddy Holly, Bruce Springsteen, Aerosmith, Thin Lizzy, The Isley Brothers, BAND-MAID

26 year old guitarist, singer/songwriter and drummer from Northwestern Ontario. I make Rock 'n Roll music in my basement. I've been recording my One Man Band songs for 6 and a half years with 23 albums and over 300 songs. Before music I used to draw comics and make videos. I've always looked for outlets to channel my inner energy. Everything I do creatively is done to express my personality, longings and mundane fascinations.

Here is a playlist that represents what I do.
https://soundcloud.com/kanttilamusic/sets/this-is-kanttila

I'm a passionate fan of Rock 'n Roll, J-Pop, Electropop and R&B. I like stuff that is urgent, melodic, up-tempo and life affirming. I became crazy about music when I listened to KISS' album Psycho Circus when I was 13. I began to buy records shortly after, which I'm still into and always listening to. I started playing bass before quickly switching to guitar and drums. The basis of everything for me is AC/DC, the band I learnt it all from. Malcolm Young is my guitar idol.

I was inspired to make my own music when I listened to Bob Dylan's Highway 61 album at age 19. The next year Sonic Youth's Daydream Nation inspired me to start recording. The Clash's Give 'Em Enough Rope is my dream album, the record that inspires me endlessly. It has the exact sound I strive for, the perfect Rock 'n Roll energy mixed with wonderful songcraft and production.

DUUUUDE! Somehow it seems that I might have accidentally unfollowed you at some point??? I was thinking this evening "why has no @kanttilamusic come up on my feed?" only to come here and see you're halfway to the finish already! (Good for you!) I am stoked to settle in and catch up with yer stuff. Also! *I* maybe have a collab idea to run by YOU...my email is different, but I should still have yours, so gonna email you in a few and don't be alarmed if the email is unfamiliar....👀

I don't have them seperately. It was recorded live-to-tape as is. I do, have the rhythm part saved as a loop tho. Not sure if that would help. I'll send you what i have in WAV format.

Thanks for the comment & for reading my "Concept Document" LOL. Yeah, I'm sort of curious to see where it all goes myself. I've already written a bunch of lyrics for the "project" over the last couple of days (makes up for my lack of posted music, or at least that's what I'm telling myself 😀 ). But yeah, I think it's going to be fun - or at least a very worth-while experience for me, philosophically, spiritually & probably existentially.

Thanks a lot Kurtis! I hope I get a full band for Princess. The lyrics have a meaning and I'm ready to yell them out! \m/

Hi, we're teamed up in the Video Collaboration Challenge. I will write you a mail where we can discuss with the others how to proceed.

Yesss! Welcome back and happy FAWM to you, d00d! I would be *SO DOWN* for another collab, of any shape or size!! A fun rock song/duet would be aces.

I guess I was too old for Pokemon, tho I did watch Dragon Ball Z, funny enough. At the very least, it allowed me to appreciate the Robot Chicken Christmas sketch LOL. I have a feeling that Pokemon & those other shows were really geared toward North American children & less so to Anime fans. Or maybe that's just my skewed Gen X take on them. Dunno…

There's certainly a lot of ecchi in DXD, maybe a little much at times. But it's almost funny the way it is used. In the end, I really liked the story & the characters - the ecchi & fan service aside. Watching it with one of the voice dub actors would have been a fun experience for sure.

Yeah, Gundam certainly pulled me back into the Anime world. I always loved Anime (gong back to Captain Harlock when it aired on Saturday morning cartoons when I was young), but Gundam got me back into it for sure. Gundam Seed & Gundam Seed Destiny are still two of my favourite all-time serieses. And their soundtracks are beyond awesome. But, when I think about it, Ghost In The Shell also pulled be back into the Anime world. All of its spinoffs have been quite interesting (I especially love the Stand Alone Complex serieses). But yeah, rom-coms for me, for the past year or so. Still not sure why, but I'm enjoying them immensely. Have you seen Highschool DXD? A lot of ecchi & fan service in that one, but the story & characters are really great. Sort of rom-com meets fantasy. It's a blast.

I'll have to check out D-Frag. Thanks for the recommendation!

Your Slice Of Life recommendation a couple of years ago, I think, has turned me into a bit of a Rom-Com enthusiest… not that I'm complaining (nor is Crunchyroll each month I pay my subscription fee 😆 ). Just finished watching Masamune-kun's Revenge & am half way through How To Raise A Boring Girlfriend. Never really saw myself watching high-school rom-coms in my 40's 😆 😊 Oh well, I'm enjoying it. What have you been watching lately?

Yep I can see that aggressiveness in your Songs that I have heard. Suitable for metal and of those Categories. Your skill level appears up to the task, even if this song might be a little mellow-ish. Maybe I'll push it more into that direction. I too can be flexible.

Hey there Kurtis... How are you at Blues solos? I've been looking for a Chord-ed Arpeggio style solo GTR part for a song similar to this one, but with GTR as the soloing lead. This is one that I created about a year ago. Kind of a Blues Rock thing. Send me a message if you have an interest.
