@cts
I have now!! 😀
[avatar]
@cts
Congrats on the win, my friend. Sorry I haven't been around as often to lend more support and listens. Taking care of family is a trying matter. But it's all good. I'll be around for more listening.
[avatar]
Yea, definitely a personal record. 😀
[avatar]
Tips for audiobook narration: most people need to read slightly slower than their nerves/excitement/energy convinces them to read. Take the "beats" in between moments -- a few seconds when a new place or person is introduced can help the listener track what's going on. It can be tempting to make big "character voice" decisions to differentiate who's talking, but it can get more confusing if you try to give everyone in the book a different voice. Even among professional narrators, it's rare to find someone really good at giving a bunch of distinct voices. Try not to swallow saliva into the mic (better to stop recording, swallow and start again, or to leave space on either side and cut it out in editing) and get a pop filter if you need one for thumping consonants. Youglish and NPR are my go-tos for words I need to look up pronunciation for (if not in the dictionary). If you narrate while wearing headphones, be careful not to just listen to your own dulcet tones! I like to take one earphone off so I can hear some of my voice in the room, too. My boss used to say to read THROUGH the mic, not just to the microphone. Remember the people listening to while they're driving a car. They want a clear, projected voice, not just a "close" public radio or podcast tone.
[avatar]
Thanks for listening to "White Horses" a few days ago -- I'm just now catching up. :)
[avatar]
Thanks for checking out Glimpse! It's definitely one of my faves as well!
[avatar]
@nadine
Thanks for checking out "Glimpse". I'm happy you enjoyed. Gonna check your profile in some days, I don't have headphones with me xD
[avatar]
Thanks for the listen and your kind comment on Wear Bright Gesr!
[avatar]
hey, thanks for the comment on “Spooky California Night”. One explanation of this could be that California, epicenter of all media in the West, is filled with not only our hopes & dreams, but the ghostly traces of us that it keeps churning out. Another dimension of the song could be the horror of the tragic wildfires that routinely consume the state. Trying to layer a bunch of things in.
[avatar]
it's hard to know how each will work. Some catch immediately. Some 8 hours later. Some have 10 views and never again. . I've downloaded and re uploaded a few duds and they came back 100+ the next time. Let's see what the tally is Thursday morning. After that they probably won't ever enter a feed again anyway.
[avatar]
39! LOL! This is fun. I'll xheck back in a couple hours! We're off the races!
[avatar]
We can only try watch and learn. Good luck! My clip of yours has 8 views in 27 minutes! go humph go!
[avatar]
I'll take mine down if you want or maybe you want to compare views in a couple hours from now... Just testing what I could do ... https://www.youtube.com/shorts/pqPnvRxJwWE
[avatar]
no you can get a minute. find the track in your app. choose remix, make a short and it should take you to a screen, in the top right is a little circle with 15 in it, as in seconds. Tap that and it changes to 60 seconds. It should work....Let me know.
[avatar]
@nadine
Thank you, Kathy, I'm happy that you enjoyed our work on "Magnetic Rose". I really love these 4 track collabs. You never know who adds what and in the end you have a awesome song unifying individual strengths.
[avatar]
Thanks Kathy, for ALL the support this month!! I’m going to catch up over the next few days/weeks. Any tracks you’re particularly proud of, that I could use as kinda starting points? 🙂
[avatar]
Hi, @sbs2018, Thanks for commenting on Low Rung on a Tall Ladder. Jeff is being modest. He made the song into what I had hoped it would be. Can't do that just by reading the lyrics! So fun and easy to work with. I want to do some exploring on your page a little later this afternoon. Looks like you have quite a collection here.
[avatar]
@jeff9
Thanks for those kind comments, Kathy. With Patty's lyrics, I'm just a passenger and they take the wheel.
[avatar]
@nadine
Thank you! I didn't expect it to be soooo hard to play a boogie, but the left hand needs spider fingers and the coordination is just 🤯 I hope we find some takers!
[avatar]
@brisk
Thanks for that! I am simultaneously intrigued by what it must have been like to be an ocean mariner in the 17th century.... and pretty crazily agoraphobic!
[avatar]
how about publishing it one chapter with yor music at a time on a youtube channel?
[avatar]
:)
[avatar]
for real.
[avatar]
Let me suggest you keep each one to 2 minutes. and just pick the peas out of the story so people need to look for the right order of things... 1 minute would be even better you could make them into shorts... idea? :)
You still haven't seen my comment on Songwriting Tips episode 1 ????
Hugs to you and Rich.
[avatar]
@mikeb
Thanks for the comment on 'Dreamer'!
[avatar]
Thanks Kathy!! Looking forward to your next one!! I have song seeds and ideas scribbled down for when my energy returns to follow through with them :) I sure hope it’s before Tuesday, but if not that’s OK too 🎶
[avatar]
Thank you for your kind words on Midnight Things!
[avatar]
@nadine
Haha yes, just scream it out :)
[avatar]
@nadine
Hey Kathy, we updated "I love my life". I hope you enjoy the music the same as me :)
[avatar]
Thanks, @sbs2018 - Glad you like One Hit Wonder :)
[avatar]
@mikeb
Thanks for the comment on 'Start Living the Dream'!
[avatar]
Thanks for your support of my singing! 😀
[avatar]
LOL
[avatar]
Happy if I'm putting some bounce in your step! :)
[avatar]
Top 5! I'm delighted. Thank you both! Wait till you've heard it a couple times. I guarantee it's a road trip song. You'll be singing along in your sleep. I've found myself singing it and chuckling while I was working on the other tracks on "If I'm Blue". LOL.
Have a great Sunday evening!
Thanks both so much for all the love.
[avatar]
@nadine
Thank you :D Congrats for winning FAWM!
[avatar]
Ah! Fantastic. So glad to be able to help
[avatar]
everything is connected.
[avatar]
it could I guess, but I think I've only ever done that once in 17 years and it was a crash not a highhat
New one for you... I hope you guys enjoy. :)
[avatar]
Thank you for your comment on my first! Yeah, some musical eras are built into our systems so much more than others, right?
[avatar]
Thanks so much for your kind comment on ‘Six Months Ago Today’ - really appreciate it! :-)
[avatar]
Huh? I meant you send me 30 seconds of something of yours that's a problem and I'll try to sort out what you're doing wrong. New one up just a few minutes ago. Play it loud ! :)
Hugs.
[avatar]
It's all about the judicious use of eq and compression. And LESS and LESS reverb.
If you want, if you've got a 30 second clip of something that's been bothering you with cymbals hi hats, send it to me, might not be today but we'll look at it and see what's up....
[avatar]
you need a special plug in called "12 years of @ferry0123 complaining about "crispness"" LOL! :)
[avatar]
@gm7
You nailed it...same progression ...great [email protected]!!
[avatar]
Hi Kathy, thanks so much for the nice comment on the Lennon song. I was quite nervous about posting it as it does feel like it borders into plagiarism at points 😂, so getting nice comments puts my mind somewhat at ease! I’ve been Team Paul for a while too (mainly because I think his melodic sensibilities are genius), but I’m coming around to the idea you can like both, and for different reasons.
[avatar]
special? :)
[avatar]
Thanks so much for your lovely comments, @sbs2018
Very much appreciated.
[avatar]
@djtjb
Likewise thank you for the listens and awesome comments as well!
[avatar]
I tried not to like Logic, but I ended up liking it! :)
[avatar]
What happened to TomKat and kitty? I finally cleared the decks to come listen and it's gone.
Thanks for all the youtube love today!
[avatar]
Oh my goodness, Kathy! Your comment in Jerry's song had me laughing :) Interesting coworker, huh? Happy Friday!
[avatar]
Social media is an excellent way to lose friends, thanks for listening! 😊
[avatar]
@nadine
Thanks for listening and commenting on the "Blackout Blues". I forwarded the song to a collab, so let's see where it's going :)
[avatar]
@brisk
Thanks for listening! Yes, for some reason that discordant bit caught my imagination.

PS without trying to be a word-bore, the "welt" meaning isn't the half of it! My main thought (other than turny things!) was weal as in commonwealth https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Common_good . I think that's a term that was used in the 17th century, roundheads and cavaliers etc... well, probably mainly roundheads.
[avatar]
Thanks for the comment! That’s a really good point about a cigarette being representative of youth and freedom. Cheers!
[avatar]
*wink*
[avatar]
there are very few songs that make much sense to me. i usually enjoy them for their surface pleasures.
[avatar]
guest of honor doesnt make sense because everybody at the party is drunk
[avatar]
Yeah bad boys can be fun too as long as they have good hearts. Partners in crime! Thanks for your comments!
[avatar]
Me too. They’re convenient, all-inclusive, & so clean! Park-hopper passes are also the way to go!
[avatar]
Thanks for your lo kind words regarding Anniversary. We have been married for 65 years and still going.
[avatar]
@jeff9
Thanks, Kathy. Glad you got a kick out of All My Rowdy Friends. Those Nashville boys David and Vaughan are something else. Hard to screw up theirs.
[avatar]
Disney resorts are spectacular!! My daughter was never much into princesses, but loved Star Wars and Oswald. In Florida, there is no tribute to the lost "first" Mickey like there is in Cali!! I love how clean it is, too. Disney has genius marketing.
[avatar]
Thanks for the warm welcome, Kathy!! Now I have to ask: do you like Disneyland or Disneyworld better? My favorite park is Epcot, but the smaller crowds and weather is better in Cali! You're off to an awesome start this FAWM!
[avatar]
Thank you! Oh my, I hope you recovered well! <3
[avatar]
@brisk
Ha, glad you liked the drum opening on Sing To Me - I'm always quite self-conscious that I have no clue how drum parts work. And one of the best and most distinctive things about the 90s Pumpkins sound was that they had what? Effectively a jazz drummer? Am I making that up? Capable of doing some pretty interesting things.
[avatar]
Oooh what will it be?
[avatar]
well in my case I had an excuse. Hugs, my friend. Thanks for all the kindness. I really do appreciate your energy.
Am glad you followed my recommended thread tip. Such a great track that one. Hugs.
[avatar]
I don't know about turmoil. There's grief and regret. The songs are helping but fanning those embers - and I wish there wasn't a few more outstandoing songs I feel obliged to bring to completion this month in a space where his friends are collected. But your note did make me smile. I'm a firm believer in destiny and magical coincidence. Go Lobos!
I have an SBS story I may tell you one day (that coincidentally has to do with my fiction writing years. and when I see your sbs I'm reminded of that. In fact, I only just realized (fully) while formulating my response to your kindly message that your SBS stands for Screamie Birds Studios. Up until now I thought it was just some cosmic taunt that we'd be friends and that you were a writer who chose those particular letters as your user name at random. :)
Wolf "every day's an epiphany" Kier. LOL.
[avatar]
Thank you so much!
[avatar]
Hi! I just wanted to thank you for listening to my song Too Proud, and for your kind and encouraging comment!!
[avatar]
Indeed it was fun, and well observed. And why wouldn't you share it? If you'd written a lyric in an hour skirmish you'd share that... Make it, post it. The world looks after the rest. Thanks again for all you do. Hugs to you and Rich for a blessed Sunday evening. Considering posting my next one later tonight or tomorrow.
[avatar]
@nadine
Thanks for your comment on "High Noon". This is a very vivid description of a perfect movie for this song!
[avatar]
Thanks for your comment on Let Go. Happy FAWMing!
[avatar]
he was such a big hearted human being. He actually met and interviewed Kurt Vonnegut Jr. And that was just a btw story for him, some of the stuff he told me he'd done, people he'd met, how he met them, how he was connected to just about everyone and everything, used to crack me up for days after.
[avatar]
You're welcome, my friend. Thank you for your very kind words and support as well. When I think of the countless hours Deez (and of course Ferry) spent on WK100, but with Deez it included taking tracks to work and test driving them on his fellow workers. LOL... He sent me a video once of a bunch of Mexican construction workers singing the chorus to Pink Fur Collar.... Wish I'd kept it. LOL.... we knew we had a hit!
[avatar]
Hi! I sent a group email about the harmony challenge with the lyrics included the other day--let me know if you didn't get it! I'll be sending my melody track to @tan482 tomorrow so we can get the ball rolling!
[avatar]
thanks.
[avatar]
Thank you for the praise you've given "I Love You", Hopefully I can find a few more songs to follow up with.
[avatar]
@jeff9
Thanks for the listen and comment on "Closing Time is Closing In". Those Nashville boys are the real deal.
[avatar]
Thank you for your comment on Let Go, I actually forgot to set the channel to stereo when I recorded the main vocals but remembered for the rest, but it seems to work ok!
[avatar]
thanks for the feedback, so it's a waste of time?
I'll give it till end of February... apparently there are "followers" there already .... Let's see if I can stink it up enough to make it marginally worthwhile to drop releases there.
Hugs.
[avatar]
unusual. It's like any other social media place in purpose/essence, but it's very geeky to navigate around, lots of assumed knowledge of terms. It;s not the twitter that grandpa learned to use, that's for sure. I don't know. I'll post a song there as I put them on youtube and see what happens after a while. I've got a ton of repay listens to do and only minutes at a time to get them in but I'll be back to hear your lastest when the decks are cleared later today. Hugs to you and Rich. Glad you loved my voodoo song! :)
[avatar]
If you're not already there wanna explore the complete unknkown with me? LOL...

In regard to GI Blues: Went in in 1954 and out in 1958
[avatar]
now you need to add the new (edited) video link to your fawm song page. Right now it says "this video is unavailable" because you obviously deleted the longer one and uploaded a new one.
[avatar]
if you have access to a pc there's clipchamp on Windows or you can download the app free.
you add the sound,, you add the picture. You stretch the picture to the sound and you render.....
so easy...
[avatar]
thank you for the comment on my storytelling. coming from a storyteller such as yourself, i will accept the complement with humble pride.
[avatar]
Thank you for your kind comment on my track. I am glad you enjoyed it. :)
[avatar]
@brisk
Ha ha - Queen vibe! Now that's something I'm going to get tattooed over my heart! Thanks for being nice about Clissold Park.
[avatar]
Hi! I'm the melody writer/singer for our Harmony Singers Challenge song and would like to get a group email started for the project. Do you have an email address you'd be comfortable sharing? You can either post it on my soundboard or send me an email (the link is on my profile). Looking forward to hearing from you!
[avatar]
@nadine
Thank you! Yes, I still remember "Nastly Lies". I guess I'm in the same mood :D
[avatar]
Have a great FAWM, I am deep into writing my second book now so won't be participating (probably) but I will check in and see what is going on from time to time. Geoff :-)
[avatar]
Thanks for the warm welcome and nice comment! Very much looking forward to February.
[avatar]
Hi, there! I love the look of your studio. It screams the '60s and '70s. I hope it inspires wonderful classic songs this year. Happy FAWM!
[avatar]
isn't that weird?
Your fixed W got your post on my notifications.
Great pictures on your profile!
Hugs to you and Rich for a blessed Sunday afternoon/evening ahead.

98 by the way ... inch by inch. :)
[avatar]
@thetau
Hmmm... Looks like some Leopard has spotted your Mickey hat. Is that why they call you KAT? OH yea we all know you are going to "have FAWM."
[avatar]
I'm green with envy. LOL.... I managed to break through the veil with mine too, I'm glad to say...
oh and #96!
[avatar]
profile pic FTW! :)
[avatar]
Thanks for listening to Wanderer, much appreciated!

Also, mixing magenta and yellow can make red....I haven't tried it with that greenish-yellow overlay...but maybe it can get close. Try magenta shoes on black and see what happens. :)
[avatar]
Good to see you back Kathy. I look forward to the next stage of your evolution.
[avatar]
@candle
Happy FAWMing! Looking forward to hearing what you come up with this year.

See You In The Shadows…
[avatar]
You are too kind--and right back at you!
[avatar]
indeed it does. Won't they give you your red shoes back?
[avatar]
Hi DJ Kat! I'm not actually sure I look any better in green than your red shoes, but thank you! Hope you have a wonderful FAWM 😄
[avatar]
@nadine
Welcome Kat! Have a great FAWM!
[avatar]
Hey DJ Kat!! I hope your FAWM rocks!!
[avatar]
Hell hath no fury as a girl who's red shoes were turned green, huh? :)
[avatar]
Yummy and trouble, you say?
These are a few of my favorite things! :)
Hugs.
[avatar]
Bring it, my friend. Bring yummy. :)
