Here! Or shall I say „Hier“ :) I’m German too. Classically trained mezzo-soprano, no experience in choir, only solo but I love what you arranged. I’m going to listen to some of your other stuff as well, we seem to have some things in common! Grüße aus Dortmund.

I’m a choir singer (soprano) and would love to be a part of this project!

i can sing alto :) sounds fun, count me in!
![[avatar]](https://avatars.fawm.org/fawm2023/12405.png)
I can sing B if you need me.
![[avatar]](https://avatars.fawm.org/fawm2023/29680.png)
Tenor here!
![[avatar]](https://avatars.fawm.org/fawm2023/31217.png)
I can sing alto or low mezzo. Also, if you want to make it into a video choir, I've done that in Reaper (but there are probably many here who have!).
![[avatar]](https://avatars.fawm.org/fawm2023/8084.png)
I can sing soprano or tenor (yes, really). In a choir I've usually been placed on the second soprano part, although if there are high harmonies above the (soprano) melody I've sometimes been given those as well.

Wow, this is more popular than I thought!
So far, we have:
Sopranos: 2 (+1 mezzo)
Altos: 2
Tenors: 1
Basses: 1
plus me (I can sing soprano, alto and in a pinch tenor).
I guess my next steps are to finish the Greek piece (really only needs dynamic markings and lyrics), prepare MIDI files and then drop them in my Google Drive.

Just so you don't think I abandoned the project - I've had a rough few days health-wise. I just need a little bit of time so I can spruce up the sheet music & MIDI.

I'm up for it too! I'm a baritone who can reach all but the highest of the tenor part and all but the lowest of the bass part.
I also have the very beginnings of a chorale work in the pipeline. But it's probably not going to be completed anytime soon

I have a trio (sab) and we could try some parts and record them but probably not till April or later.
![[avatar]](/static/img/avatars/init/60.png)
I can sing a bass part.
![[avatar]](https://avatars.fawm.org/fawm2023/1158.png)
Ooh please include me! I’m most comfortable as an alto but I’ve been told I’m a soprano.

@nightwing @francesriley @tseaver @roddy yay! I'm very grateful for more singers!
@falconbridge I hope to have concluded this before April, but I will let you know if I still need singers then. On the other hand, if you want to perform my things, you're welcome!

@tseaver I also took Classical Greek in university so I could sing in Attic Greek too 😀

(quite the choir we have assembled here!)
I updated the score for "Odi et amo" and uploaded MIDI files (one including all the voices plus each voice solo) as well as a spoken version of the lyrics. Everything is in this folder here: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1R08yqJqXxhsbzD7CDGfD3vSj-9NzXOzx?usp=sharing
Tempo is 72 bpm, albeit notated in 2/2.
If you still feel up for it, feel free to have a go at it, I will see if I can record something myself in the meantime!

Looks like the Sop 2 is a good range for me. I'll try to have a go at it. Audio only?

This is very good and interesting. All the files are very helpful. Will send an audio track in a couple of days.

ok, wonderful!
I'm just coming up with some guidance around recording:
- no need to normalize or apply any compression. As dry and unprocessed as possible is best.
- leave a bit of headroom if possible - most important is no clipping, though.
- I'm working with a 44.1kHz sample rate. If you can record/export with this sample rate, that's preferable.
- File formats: 24bit wav is preferable, but don't sweat it. aiff or flac are fine too! In a pinch, mp3 with a bitrate of 128 or higher will do.

Sorry if I'm not making progress - the rough health time I had in late February has spiraled into a full-on health crisis, and I currently can't even manage normal everyday life.
I'm sorry. I hope I can continue with this project at some point. Until then, I need to focus on getting better.

So sorry to hear about your problems. Please don't worry about this project, your health is much more important.
![[avatar]](https://avatars.fawm.org/fawm2023/8084.png)
@ryuu Do you still want people to send you recordings for this even if you're not able to do anything with them yet? I haven't had a chance to learn the song yet, but I can maybe try in a couple of weeks.
![[avatar]](https://avatars.fawm.org/fawm2023/4432.png)
@complexissimple absolutely yes! I would still love to finish this project some time!
I'm thinking about a way of staying in touch; probably it would be the simplest if you (who are still interested) would just email me.
There are two FAWM-related Discord servers mentioned in this thread (https://write.fawm.org/forums/994?highlight=Discord ), I'm on both (my handle there is modern_dragon), so that's another possibility anyone is into it.

One is called "Odi et amo", a short, 5-part (SSATB), renaissance-style counterpoint-ish piece: https://write.fawm.org/songs/20614
The other is called "To Apollon", a contemporary classical-ish 3-part piece for upper voices (SSA) with lyrics in Ancient Greek: https://write.fawm.org/songs/24152
(For that one, I still have to finish adding lyrics to the score. I have never typed Polytonic Greek before.)
I have no intention of publishing them for profit – this would be purely for fun! Of course, I would credit all singers both here on FAWM and wherever I end up publishing the finished version.
I also have no real idea yet how to go about it, but I would definitely provide you with at least a MIDI to sing along to (in addition to a printable score), and a spoken version of the lyrics to help with pronunciation.
If you're interested, let me know!
