So in the PNW FOP thread, we started talking about FAWMStock West. I would very much love to see this come together!

For those of you who aren't familiar with FAWMStock, it is a weekend get together where we write songs, jam, hang out, and have a blast. At previous FAWMStocks we've done things like in person skirmishes, open mic style concerts, big group song writes, and lots more. It's an amazing time!

My initial thought is a retreat center someplace midway between Seattle and Portland, but I think we are open to anywhere that works.

Based on past FAWMStocks and what people were saying about schedules, the initial thoughts I had for scheduling would be a weekend in September, since it will be toward the end of 50/90 and retreat centers are less likely to be booked.

So throwing out a random weekend - Sept 22 - 24 ? Should we look at Earlier or Later?

My guess is we'll need to have at least 20 people and should expect to pay around $100 per person, which would cover lodging and some food. The earlier we can express interest, the more likely we will be able to secure a spot.

(I will admit I already checked with a retreat center in SW Washington midway between Seattle and Portland for pricing and received $42 per person per day, so a weekend would be $84 for lodging, not including food.)

Please chime in here if you are interested in coming to FAWMStock West. And feel free to add in any ideas you have for dates and/or location.

We (the wife and I) are tentatively hitting Bend, Oregon for Songfight Live in the July/August range and if the Madison Fawmstock happens in August then we will definitely do that (as it's within driving distance.) Adding another PNW trip would be stretching the funds, I think. However, the timing of Songfight Live might be that we can't attend. So we're a maybe depending on scheduling of the other events.

I’d love to attend and participate, if a date is decided soon I should be able to set it aside before anything else comes up.

I'm also down for a west coast FAWMstock.

I'd love to attend. July would be the best for me, but could make early / mid August work. September / October would be tough for me.

@jacobeverettwallace It's the Fawmstock of Songfight.org but with less of an "everyone stays at the same place" and more of a, "here's a few activities everyone is invited to" which almost always includes an open mic type of showcase for songfighters one or two nights. The last one was in Madison hosted by @ndavies and @owl.

So far, if my estimation is correct, I see about 10 to 15 people potentially interested in FAWMstock West.

Please feel free to tag folks that might be interested. The more we know about how many people and which weekend, the easier it will be to plan.

I think only Aug 18-20 works for me. There's supposed to be a wedding I'm going to in Toronto on Aug 26, but details are sparse so far.. I'll see if I can get confirmation on that today / tomorrow.

I also have one or two others that might be interested to join in. They have FAWM'd vicariously through my account over the last few years (eg, my sister wrote I, Lover https://write.fawm.org/songs/24046), but never took part directly. Is it ok if they joined?

I've found a possible place near Ocean Park, WA on the Long Beach peninsula - so about 3 hours from Seattle and about 2.5 hours from Portland and directly on the Pacific :) . They do have availability on Aug 18-20th. I can check on the Aug 25-27th if that will work better for folks.

A dear friend of mine is in Tillamook and my sister is near Seattle, so I could quite possibly attend a weekend if I stay with them and rent a car. I'll watch the details of this thread.

Flights are pretty reasonable RNO>PDX for those weekends right now

Oh man, we played the Astoria Wine & Seafood fest there one year, it's a beautiful spot. They harvest so many clams there that they build wire cage "fences" out of clam shells.

Aug 18-20th is the only weekend of the two that works for me. Ocean Park looks like a great place!

I received confirmation that the only weekend the facility we are looking at is available is Aug 18-20th.

So, here's what we are thinking:

FAWMStock West - Ocean Park, WA - August 18th through 20th! Cost is planned to be about $84 (plus fees) per person, not including food.

Songwriting, In-person Skirmishes, Open Mics, Jams, and lots more!

Super excited about this. Also, @carleybaer the McIver fam has a beach house here that Sugar Still got to stay in on a tour one year, so we should convince JM to come down too.

This sounds really appealing to me. I filled out the Google Forms questionnaire in the positive. It's a 14-hour drive from the Bay Area but totally worth it IMHO. I hope it happens, let me know if you need help with the organization tasks. I can't wait to meet you lovely songwriters!
