A cheap but nice Cort Action Bass. It's got both P and J pickups, and feels nice to play. And a Fender Rumble LT25 bass modeling amp. I love it! My first bass amp sucked, but this one is really nice. 😀
The only other music things I've bought since last FAWM are a set of 7 Fender harmonicas, a cheap Alvarez ukelele, and an actual studio space (which is where most of the money went). The studio was finished in June, and I bought the harmonicas and uke during 50/90, so they've already seen a little action. The bass was late November.

Probably the most important one is a new laptop - the one I used for the last six FAWMs felt like it was starting to struggle a little so I picked up a new (refurbed) one with more processing power, memory and hard drive space.
The most EXCITING one is a Roland electronic drum kit - I've been taking lessons and practicing a load since about April so I feel like I'm fairly alright at this point? Feels like a big change after years of mostly using loops or programming drums manually.
And the most "did I REALLY need that, though?" additions are a couple of new-to-me electric guitars that I spotted second-hand and couldn't resist. A Squier thinline Telecaster and a G&L Fallout, which I suspect will end up being my primary FAWM guitar because I love it!

ooooh yes @vomvorton drums FTW
![[avatar]](https://avatars.fawm.org/fawm2023/4968.png)
Dingwall Combustion bass. One of them odd-looking things with fanned frets. And an alto flute.
![[avatar]](https://avatars.fawm.org/fawm2023/3256.png)
Apart from some additional midi packs for EZdrummer, EZmix and EZ Keys, I have a real Fuzz pedal. I have always struggled with fuzz pedals, and yet, loved the sound of fuzz with other people's playing. I really dig this fuzz pedal. And, I have a headless electric guitar that is a lot of fun to play. I will add that yesterday, I borrowed a Marshall Silver Jubilee from a friend and I hope this makes an appearance before it is taken from my cold dead hands when I have to hand it back.

Physical gear, no. But I did put together a Frankenstein monster kit of drum samples using a bunch of vintage drums owned by my boss. So the heart of it is the kick drum, floor tom, splash cymbal, and woodblocks from a 1930s Premier Ace kit. To that I've added three 1940s Ludwig toms. Those are kind of weird, because the batter heads are normal and tunable, but the resonant heads on the bottom are just tacked on. Then I've topped it off with a set of thoroughly modern, Zildjian A-Custom cymbals.
The result is a drumkit that you will never, ever see anyone playing in real life.

My son is working towards his grade 1 percussion , so we now have quite a nice xylophone (3 octaves) in my music room… xylo and harp combo is very tempting!

Since last year, I acquired a (mid-life crisis with strings) proper upright double bass (a Duke 'Bat Bass'), and a Shadow Rockabilly Pro pre-amp enabling me to record (and gig with) it properly. Intending to do some fawming on it if it'll fit in my tiny cupboard of a studio. Expect lo-fi rockabilly...

I’m new to FAWM but I acquired a lyre harp and a jaw harp
I kind of have a thing for exotic instruments

@stewartscissor that sounds cool AF!
I've delved more onto the joys of building my own stuff this year. It started with fitting a load of hot rails to my budget beginner strat for a major sonic upgrade. Since then I've frankensteined two old radios into amps and a telephone into a mic, and I expect they'll all make an appearance this Fawm. You can see and hear all of them in this video...

my best buy in ages has been a Tenor Mandola - imagine a Mandolin but ever-so-slightly bigger and with a deeper sound. I gave it a name. I called it Nelson.......yep, that's right: Nelson Mandola (I'll get my coat)

@ianuarius ooo, very nice!
@vomvorton drums FTW indeed...
@dragondreams me too! I got me one of them!
@chroes I love the look of the Meteora. Look forward to hearing it!
In addition to the 5-string Dingwall Combustion bass, I got me a new Ibanez 7-string guitar and a purple sparkly ESP 6-string which is, no question, the best guitar I have ever played.
I also have a Cornerstone Gladio SC boost pedal and it's going to get used A LOT. It adds buckets of character to just about any guitar tone you give it.

I got a new guitar in October, a Yamaha Pacifica 612VII. My first stratocaster type guitar. I also changed to lighter strings.
![[avatar]](https://avatars.fawm.org/fawm2023/9209.png)
I’m getting a custom built tenor guitar from another Aussie luthier - Jack Spira. Sadly not in time however, but I want to increase my tenor chops and repertoire during this FAWM to feel worthy of such a beautiful arrival.

After visiting @sapient last Easter, I acquired more guitar pedals. I also bought a garklein, after discovering they exist and a couple of other recorders. Cheapo plastic ones, but they make sound and are mostly in tune.
![[avatar]](https://avatars.fawm.org/fawm2023/14395.png)
I got a new mic and reflexion filter. More significantly, my cat got a new box 😂

Mostly came here to fond out what weird new toys @dragondreams had discovered. Cant wait to hear that alto flute!
I did the same as @vomvorton laptop wise but had to send it back, so...who knows if I'm making any music at all this year.
Also: a melodica.
Yeah this could be the year of vocal, melodica and hand claps arrangements the world has been waiting for. Be afraid.

@ayehahmur I caved and bought a laptop before Christmas because there was a sale on, and they sent me the wrong thing. So it turned out to be good that I bought one before I really needed or could afford to, because it left enough time for the problem to be resolved! The lesson here is, never think about anything.

@oddbod looking forward to hearing that Dream 65 in action. How does it compare to the Iridium?
@oldlostjohn goes electric - this is Dylan '65 seismic levels - can't wait to hear you rock out!
Since last FAWM I've bought a Cordoba classical guitar, a Gretsch lap steel and an Epiphone Casino. Now have 7 guitars, a full-size keyboard (and absolutely no room for me) in my 1m x 2m studio. Oh, and no money left either 🙁

Last summer I got a Squier Thinline Telecaster. I've been wanting one for a while, Telecasters are by far my favorite guitar with nothing coming close. So I needed another one.
Although it's not new I'll be using my Dad's custom SG Jr. more. I broke it back out for a song last year but now I got the sound I want out of it. The guitar was a prototype my Dad had some Chinese factory make for a line of customs that never happened. It's actually a pretty solid guitar but I don't know if the strings have been changed since 2011 or not.

@davidtaro I've been on a bit of a journey with hardware amp sims over the last couple of years. I first bought an Iridium then sold it when I picked up a used Helix Stomp. I found the Stomp was a bit option paralysis though and I realised that I actually preferred the Iridium's sound and it's simplicity, so bought another one. Then when the UA Dream 65 came out, it had great reviews so I bought one to try out, as I figured I could always sell it again if I didn't get on with it. But it turned out that I really liked it and I preferred its sound to the Iridium (I tended to only use the Marshall option on the Iridium).
So I've now sold the second Iridium and only use the Dream 65. It doesn't have multiple options; it's like having just one amp, but that's fine with me.

@oddbod interesting 🤔 I've been trying the Iridium, and definitely feel like the Vox and Marshall settings are better than the Fender one. Which is a shame as I love Fender Reverbs. Might need to check out that Dream 65! (Your guitar tones are always immaculate btw).

I play uke and am proud to report that I have no new ukes since last year. I did get a banjo for my birthday and a cool Breedlove guitar for the holiday. Do you think my family is telling me to branch out? 😉 Hoping I can play something on them well enough for a track or two.

@vomvorton I've been threatening to buy an e-drum kit all year, and never did it - looking forward to hearing what you do with it!
New for me this year:
* Studio: swapped my Sceptre S6 monitors for Tannoy Gold 5s - the S6 were just too much for me, too loud, too large, too much hiss. The Tannoys are awesome.
* Guitar stuff: got a Gibson LP Jr (been looking at these for YEARS), Fender Vibro Champ Reverb RI, and a Nobels ODR-mini, all of which are likely to show up on a lot of my songs this year
I think that's it?

I picked up a Fender Mustang short-scale bass last Fall.
I didn't even know that short-scale basses were a thing until @ericdistad and @jendistad showed me theirs last summer when I went to visit them.
Need to do some work on it (replace a noisy pickup, put flat-wound strings on it) but the smaller form factor is actually quite fun!

Got a Yamaha PS-20, so ready for some Beach House pastiche tunes.
Also bought some plugins, including a couple Spitfire Audio sample libraries during the holiday sales I haven’t gotten around to using yet.
I ordered a fancy and expensive hand built electric guitar during fall, that I hopefully should get during February, it’s kinda a mix of a ES335 and a Jazzmaster with a Mastery tremolo, Mojotone Gold Foil humbuckers with coil split. Even with a good deal, since I’m friends with the luthier, had to sell a lot of gear I seldom used to finance it.

I bought a bunch of new and used gear since last FAWM, ranging from effects to synths to guitars - I also got not one but two guitars given to me by family and friends who weren't using them. However, most of these are still at home, 2500 km from where I am today and will be spending the whole month of February. New-to-me things that I did bring include:
Sterling Ball by Music Man Stingray bass guitar (short-scale model), my favorite playing instrument right now;
Tascam DP-006 digital 4-track recorder, tested and explored but not yet used for production work;
Moo-er booster pedal for live switching between rhythm and lead playing when the Tube Screamer is already on.
We'll see what uses I get out of those!

I sold a lot of stuff last year! Went through my gear and sold everything that didn't spark joy. ✨
With the money I bought a Monome Norns (https://www.soundonsound.com/reviews/monome-norns), a nice low-latency wireless headphone (from Aiaiai), and a battery powered tube headphone amplifier.
I also started messing with more old media formats. I bought 3 MiniDsic players and a bunch of discs, and re-released only of my albums in MiniDisc for the 30th anniversary of the format (and it quickly sold out!).
I'm planning to release my next album in microcassettes (why not?), so I found a few stereo players on eBay and repaired them by cannibalizing parts. Stereo players are rare, most of the dictaphones are mono, so it will be a nice challenge when mixing.

@oddbod @jlampson I do indeed! Dang, they look pretty in red. I just did some digging on the Flyclone site, which is a great resource ( https://flyclone.com/ ), and mine is a 2008 Mojo MIDI (after they moved the vibrato balance wheel to the back of the guitar; I think it looks much cooler on the front, like yours).

For the pandemic, I got into building guitars (from kits), as a way to keep busy without leaving the house. I now have 11 kit-built guitars, and another five kits in the queue. The kits are crazy cheap, fun to build, and if you're careful and take your time, you wind up with a really nice guitar. I highly recommend this as a hobby.
I've also been doing a lot of music-related app hacking; my pitch-to-MIDI app has gotten a complete rebuild, and I'll be pushing out an update by the end of January. The app is in beta test now if you want to give it a spin. Drop me a note if you want a copy (FAWMers Fly Free!).
Here's an overview of the app. The guitar I'm using to demo things is one of the kits (an offset, and I switched the polarity of the middle pickup so that I can muck around with out-of-phase tones).

Got myself a nice new Reverend HPP six gun to add P90 and humbucker options to my guitar array. And an accoustic kit which I will probably not use as I don’t have an 8 input audio interface (booo). I also bought a set of Nashville strings to convert an old Squire strat to something interesting - not strung it yet but should be interesting.
![[avatar]](https://avatars.fawm.org/fawm2023/8439.png)
@headfirstonly and @oddbod - yes, they're super unique, and I prefer the "pre-refined" look of mine over the newer ones, in general. I have another Fly and a couple of P-series that I really enjoy, too. Reading through the Fly Clone site gives me good feelings that other people appreciate the weirdness and ingenuity of these guitars. I suppose it's kind of like folks who are really into collector cars or something? Anyway, let's hear that MIDI Fly on something this FAWM!
![[avatar]](https://avatars.fawm.org/fawm2023/15201.png)
I have a different approach to most, I find severely limiting the amount of gear I have to work with increases creativity exponentially.
For a guitarist I have very few guitars, buying new ones won't make me any better. If I want a new sound then half the fun is creating that new sound with what I've got. The most drastic plugins I've got are free ones I've tweaked. I have a new guitar this FAWM, except it's not new its an old one I've modified. Are you a collector or a creative? Just a different opinion.

@rshakesp how many inputs do you have? You can record drums well with 2 mics! Look up recorderman or Glynn Johns techniques!
![[avatar]](https://avatars.fawm.org/fawm2023/4682.png)
@rshakesp (and @guatecoop) - heck, you can record drums well with ONE mic! For 4-tracks I put a Beta 57 (but use whatever) right in front of the kit and point it at the snare. It has a lot of snap and sounds pretty nice!
![[avatar]](https://avatars.fawm.org/fawm2023/20136.png)
@guatecoop and @zeecoop thanks! I can actually squeeze 4 inputs out of my interface (using a neural quad cortex) so I could mic overheads and a bass and snare - maybe I’ll give it a go at the weekend!

PRS Santana SE version to replace the guitar ( an Epiphone MKII) which I accidentally knocked over and cracked the headstock.arrrggg!

@whispermouse LOFL: I had forgotten how she labeled it, until I went searching.
![[avatar]](https://avatars.fawm.org/fawm2023/4682.png)
@tseaver - Hey, I didn't say it, lol. I think there is a position for the mic that is pointing from the crotch towards the kit that fits the name better, though.
![[avatar]](https://avatars.fawm.org/fawm2023/15430.png)
@tseaver I think she does that just to embarrass earnest young drummers 😀

Picked up a few new kontakt libraries aaaand then just won a copy of komplete ultimate 14 today soooo got a whole mess of new toys. Which is hilarious because my goal was to try and utilize the things I don’t use a lot.
![[avatar]](https://avatars.fawm.org/fawm2023/3171.png)
Oh hell yes. New Danelectro guitar (you can play C and D chords, and they're BOTH IN TUNE, wow); new multieffects pedal; and of course, new software/drums plugins/amp sims etc.
I spent a lot of time producing material last year, so I'm in the zone to hopefully make demos that are as close as possible to release-ready, whilst at the same time getting to experiment a bit with different mixing strategies.

A few new toys...a Squier Classic Vibe Custom Baritone Telecaster...never owned a baritone guitar, it's pretty inspiring! Also picked up a set of ADAM T7V monitors, a Behringer U-Phoria 8 channel interface to go with a new used iMac (no FireWire anymore,) a Behringer Odyssey synth (ARP Odyssey clone) and a Kawai K3 synth I found at a pawn shop.
![[avatar]](https://avatars.fawm.org/fawm2023/26687.png)
New Scarlett 2i2. (I'm very impressed with the mic the kit shipped with)
Also got a new baby (28" scale) bass guitar. One of the Ibanez MiKro Bass Guitars. My mini review is up on my YT channel:

I'm looking at short scale acoustic basses--well, to be more accurate, I played some cheap ones at a local store and wasn't impressed. I may have to drive to Sweetwater to try some better ones. But much as I love my Luna, the dang frets are too far apart for my fingers.
![[avatar]](https://avatars.fawm.org/fawm2023/11567.png)
@mtmelodie hope to hear (and see) your new guitar. Description sounds fine.
Gearwise I had a luthier friend work on an electric guitar made of NOS parts from the 60s (same parts as Höfner/Framus etc). That guitar was more or less unplayable before - let's see if I can squeeze something out of it.
Other gear: I bought a D-Tuner second hand and installed it on my main bass. Already recorded a track for @nadine with it - just a year after I promised to do it 😬 Got a new computer and tried to install only those programs/plugins that I use mainly.

@burrsettles - that shortscale mustang bass sounds really cool. I have a mini precision bass (same one that @robc has)... it's lovely to play for a ham fisted guy like me...
@swampjaw - I have a friend that builds guitars and he is starting to get me into building a guitar from parts... I am afraid that I have now opened Pandora's box...

Sadly I can't really afford any new gear, so have been building my own guitar pedals and #circuitbent stuff. Turns out building your own stuff (once you've factored in all the time & mistakes) is waaay more expensive than new gear - but soooo much more fun :)

@b3nut Baritones rock (and twang!) I have a baritone Tele; it's great fun for surf rock, fake 60s euro movie music (spaghetti western, spy movies etc); they have a great timbre even when played in the range of a normal guitar. Look forward to hearing what you do with yours!
![[avatar]](/static/img/avatars/init/52.png)
Nothing completely new, but have upgraded my Arturia Collection to the latest version - the emulation of the Esoniq SQ80 is going to get a lot of use from my impression of the sound from my preset surfing.
Studio One has also gone from v5 to v6 - FAWM will be the first time it's been used for complete recordings.

I would love a baritone. Played one for the first time ever a couple weeks ago, and I instantly loved it. I want to get a Solar baritone V. I love the look of Vs.
![[avatar]](https://avatars.fawm.org/fawm2023/15318.png)
@wylddandelyon might "drive to Sweetwater" .... oy, gevalt, that would be a deadly GAS attack for me: bad enough browsing the website. I'm lucky that's a ten or eleven hour drive away.
![[avatar]](/static/img/avatars/init/22.png)
I’ve started playing an ol dx7 and got a whole bundle of plugins from kiloheartz! I think I also got my first distortion pedal so e last time and an actual audio interface for recording vocals and guitar. I’m really looking forward to go more analog this year, it’s gonna be a lot of fun!
![[avatar]](https://avatars.fawm.org/fawm2023/12423.png)
Seems like I’m always buying and selling something. This past year I acquired a nice Martin guitar and a Weber mandolin. Sold a few things too.
![[avatar]](https://avatars.fawm.org/fawm2023/12646.png)
got a couple of cheap casios from various sources! finally got my own sk-1 + a goofy synth keyboard that i wanna try a bunch of different effects with. hoping to try and pick up a guitar this month (I can't play, but I'd like to)!

I bought a couple of guitars since last FAWM - a Fender Acoustasonic and a Taylor GT. The Fender is fun but a bit longer scale than I’m used to, so figuring out where I want to use it. The Taylor is perfectly sized for me, and I love it so much! I also got a couple of effects pedals to go with the Fender. We’ll see what all comes out to play this FAWM.
![[avatar]](/static/img/avatars/init/07.png)
For Christmas my daughter bought me a Roland Aerophone Mini AE-01 digital wind instrument. In keeping with my banjo named Tuneslayer, I am seriously considering naming it Windbreaker. It's an entry level instrument with fingering similar to a recorder, six built-in voices and a phone app you can use to customize it and produce other voices like tubas and synths. In addition to just playing it for fun I plan to use it as a MIDI controller for my DAW, and as occupational therapy for my hand (see my profile).
Other than that and a blues harp or two, it's all been plugins for my DAW. Ozone Elements, Nectar Elements, NeuralQ and a bunch of instruments, including a synthesized banjo VST. mwahahahahaaaaaaa

Ahhhh! Finally figured out which synth keyboard I want!
The Arturia Polybrute.
Unfortunately, it's $4350 Australian. Nooooooo!!! 😧
Gonna try it in store anyway, but there's essentially 0 chance of buying this anytime soon. *sigh*

@tseaver I don't have to buy anything while I'm there, but at least I'll have played a good number of things and will have a better idea of what I would be happy with, and what would be a waste of money at any price.
![[avatar]](https://avatars.fawm.org/fawm2023/12229.png)
I decided to follow @beacon's advice and I just ordered a new ukulele (a baritone), it should arrive in time for FAWM (and more important, Feb 2nd, the World Play Your Ukulele Day).
![[avatar]](https://avatars.fawm.org/fawm2023/29680.png)
![[avatar]](https://avatars.fawm.org/fawm2023/26622.png)
I bought a microphone! Rode NT-1A to be more precise. Cannot use it during FAWM, but I will have fun afterwards :) Thanks for your recommendations!
![[avatar]](https://avatars.fawm.org/fawm2023/27154.png)
@nadine I’ve got the Rose NT-1A. I used it for all of my FAWM tracks last year. Great mic for the money.
My new piece of gear since last year was a Gibson ES-335 which I’m going to try and use exclusively for my tracks this year.

@wylddandelyon nooooo, don't go into a music store thinking "I don't have to buy anything ." Going into a music store is a one-way trip as far as dollars are concerned, at least in my experience. ☺
@elesimo @beacon I love me some baritone ukulele. I've had several over the years and would love to get another someday, finances and fingers permitting.

I've done some retail therapy since last FAWM. A tenor recorder, Cordoba concert ukulele, Luna baritone electric ukulele, small glockenspiel, and a tongue drum. Oops... Stress has that effect on me.
![[avatar]](https://avatars.fawm.org/fawm2023/15475.png)
Clearly I bought a few things last year, but I'm trying not to buy any more this year unless it replaces something. I sold my Sequential Rev2 the week Dave Smith passed, not having any idea that he was gone. I kinda regret that one. Sold a bunch of other things.
NEW:
Guild BT240E Baritone Acoustic, an ibanez RGA42HPT electric guitar with the friggin whammy/tremolo bar! whoo hoooo!, ibanez parlor guitar, Hologram Microcosm pedal, Boss DR770 Drum Machine, Roland SP404mkII, Hologram Dream Sequence pedal, ibanez classical guitar, and a blue tamborine! I also bought a 2nd EHX 720 looper to replace a defective Ditto X2 looper. Ask me some time about how I used the Ditto x2 to get rid of my neighbor's ducks!
I also purchased a Tascam Porta 03 after watching the 4track youtube videos, but I think I'm going to have to get re-acquainted with this process before I start mailing partially recorded cassettes around the world. ;)
I also put new strings on a bass which had flatwounds on it, so that thing feels new again!

Last year I gave myself a February birthday present -- the prettiest baritone uke. I definitely want to do some more writing on it.

I picked up an Ensoniq SD-1 and Ensoniq ESQ-1 for a total of $775 US. Quite the deal. Owned an SD-1 previously and loved it. Also picked up a number of guitar pedals, my current favorite being an Empress Zoia.
![[avatar]](https://avatars.fawm.org/fawm2023/13778.png)
Oh my goddess, that Arturia Polybrute is so nice! I want it! Was happily playing it in the store for like 20 minutes before I figured I'd outstayed my welcome.

@frenchcricket Condolences on your loss. ;)

So I worked at a guitar center part of last year and it was probably my biggest spending year: Jackson Pro Spectra Bass; LTD EC-1000 (from 2004! What a find.) A Misha signature 7 with Tosin fishmans. Arturia Keylab MK2. Arturia Minilab 3. Lots of cables and accessories. Last week arturia offered me a V Collection 9 crossgrade for 180 so I picked that up.
![[avatar]](https://avatars.fawm.org/fawm2023/5091.png)
Since last time out, I have a Yamaha CS reface (will use plenty) and an SP-404 (probably won't use)
Also got myself a new overdrive pedal after owning a Boss OD-2 for 15 years and never actually liked.

first fawm but in 2022 i got an electric 12 string that has already required repair twice brought mostly sorrow and woe 😢, and two new fuzz pedals the eqd hizumitas, and tulpafx shook. I'm not afraid to use all three together

I picked up a second hand ESP LTD TE-200 in CashConverters (a big pawn shop chain in the UK) yesterday. They'd priced it ludicrously cheaply and some genius had put a D string where the low E should've been!
I know it's a guitar more aimed towards metal, so if I don't like it, I'll easily get three times what I paid for it, so it's win-win.

@sailingmagpie damn! That is a great deal!
We have Cash Converters in Australia, too. Funny story: My first keyboard was from them, secondhand at $98. I was so poor, I had to pay it in instalments. The day after I got it home, I was in a department store. They had that exact keyboard - $95 brand new.
So I spent an extra $3 in order to have a secondhand rather than new, with a bonus CC price sticker that wouldn't come off.

I've been really trying not to buy new gear, but a couple of things I have splashed out on are the Aberrant DSP plug-in bundle, used them in a studio recently and fell in love.
The big purchase since last year has been a Teenage Engineering OP-1, spending many hours commuting a week I needed something to scratch that music itch during work days.

Almost too much to list but I have highlights:
A cheap (and rough looking) purple daisyrock electric LP copy
A G&L tele copy
A Fender Bassman 50
A Squire Jaguar Bass
Oh, I just ordered the inexpensive Ribbon mic on the Stupid Deal of the Day that has good reviews. We'll see if it's money well spent or just money wasted.

Gone a bit mad this past year:
- a new interface (my last one died, but it was under warranty so I upgraded it for a small amount of extra £££).
- a mid-80s Japanese Fender Jaguar (I love 80s Japanese Fenders, and I've been looking for my 'perfect' Jag for about 20 years and this one landed in my lap last August - it had its first gig last night, and it was superb).
- a cheap Harley Benton 50s Precision copy bass (my son's bassist friend commented dismissively to my son "I bet he's bought a Harley Benton. All the middle aged men on the bass forum rave about how good they are for the price". Put me in my place, but to be fair, it really is very good and an absolute bargain at £100).

I've gotten a Roland E-X50 keyboard. The local library has me coming in regularly to accompany silent movies, so I wanted something fancier than my old Yamaha.

Friedman BE-OD pedal.
![[avatar]](https://avatars.fawm.org/fawm2023/12447.png)
@tuneslayer I spent several years hanging out in a music store for an hour every week (the music store was just down the street from a regular appointment my partner had), and played a LOT of guitars. Some very briefly, admittedly. I eventually bought just one of them.
![[avatar]](/static/img/avatars/init/58.png)
Ah...yeah. I sold a few mics and went on kinda a gear buying bender a little while ago. Got the Arturia Keylab controller, so now I can play all those Arturia synths while twiddling the knobs and tweaking buttons instead of pressing a mouse button. Got a Squier fretless Jazz bass. And got the Moogerfooger lowpass filter pedal, which, so far sounds incredible on everything I've tried it on, which so far is bass and looping a keyboard and a drum loop through it. But it's about to be FAWM, so I'm guessing I will soon find out how it sounds on just about...everything?
![[avatar]](https://avatars.fawm.org/fawm2023/5090.png)
I’ve borrowed a full size Eastman Tuba from work. We don’t have any 8th grade students big enough to play it this year anyhow. If all goes well, I’ll attempt a FAWM Tuba debut.

@izaakalexander that would be awesome!

Bought a hofner ignition violin bass a few months ago, been loving it so far.
![[avatar]](https://avatars.fawm.org/fawm2023/20181.png)
I just got a Danelectro 12 string guitar that is in the box acclimating to my apartment temperature for another 22 hours before I can safely open it. I can wait one more day… I can… 😂
![[avatar]](https://avatars.fawm.org/fawm2023/13778.png)
I really want a baritone guitar right now! I've only played one once, but it's the exact sound I want right now. Damn you, lack of money! I literally only finished paying off my bass yesterday.
![[avatar]](https://avatars.fawm.org/fawm2023/7582.png)
I just bought a Sutiologic SL88 studio keyboard. It's about the cheapest hammer action keyboard you can get new, and I've already used it for a couple of songs and, as a learning piano player, am surprised how much it helps. So more piano on my songs this year and the usual electric/acoustic guitars. Other than that - no more gear as it becomes a distraction!
![[avatar]](https://avatars.fawm.org/fawm2023/739.png)
I found TWO Roland KC 350 120W, 4 channel mixing amplifiers, nearly new at an estate sale. Price was $150 each. I talked the sale company to sell both of them to me for $150 total; and I just sold one of them for $150; which is still a killer deal on that amp.
![[avatar]](https://avatars.fawm.org/fawm2023/1283.png)
Ordered an inexpensive tele style baritone HSS guitar last night on impulse. Won't be here for a little while, but hopefully it'll make a showing before the end of FAWM!
![[avatar]](https://avatars.fawm.org/fawm2023/13778.png)
@tcelliott Daaaamn, that sounds nice. I want a baritone, too.

Just got a pair of PreSonus ERIS E3.5 desktop monitors delivered this week. Now I just need to remind myself that I am supposed to WRITE in February, not Mix.
![[avatar]](https://avatars.fawm.org/fawm2023/26687.png)
@tcelliott , what did you order? I have an acoustic Baritone which I picked up from the Stupid Deal of the Day a couple years ago, but a Tele style HSS sounds like the bomb.
![[avatar]](https://avatars.fawm.org/fawm2023/1283.png)
@mhorning, A Firefly. I ordered a SG two months ago and it was an amazing sparkling pink, gorgeous guitar. But the neck was too wide for my comfort so I traded it for a G&L tele. Damn thing stayed in tune (to itself) for a week with relatively new strings. I was super impressed. I've been wanting a baritone for a while, and this is not the version I wanted (I was looking for something with two humbuckers or two p90s) but the price was right. About $200 US with shipping.

This is my first FAWM adventure, but during the past year I added a Tascam US-16x08 interface, an Alesis VI49 midi keyboard and a used Yamaha Silent Guitar. The Yamaha is going to have to go because it doesn't feel all the friendly in my hand - a personal thing, I guess.

I got a Coda Stealth in-line mic pre-amp on the 2nd day of FAWM and it solved my gain problems with my mic. I have a Scarlett 2i4 and have been using an SM58 with it and could not get enough gain to adequately do vocals. This pre-amp allows me to set the gain at about 2/3 max and get really good record levels. It's powered from the 48V phantom power and just clips into the mic. Very convenient. On of the best gear investments I've made recently.
What about you? Any new additions you'd like to share and be excited about? 😊
