I did a few collabs in 2021 and I'm looking to do more. I write both music and lyrics and have a lot of existing ideas and plans, but my writing tends to get a bit stale and repetitive the more I write, so I like to have other people's material to shake things up.

If you are an instrumentalist or producer I would love to topline (write and sing lyrics/melody) over your tracks. If you want to then take my vocals and mix them properly, even better- I don't consider myself to be a particularly skilled mixer.

If you are a lyricist, I'm happy to set lyrics to music, but keep in mind they are usually just acoustic video demos posted to YouTube so I can record them quickly and easily, so nothing special. Just fun to collab.

Feel free to either write something specifically for me (my links are on my profile page if you want to check out my music- it's basically pop/rock influenced acoustic stuff) or something totally out of left field. You can tell me what your vision is for the song, just don't expect me to match it perfectly, especially if it's not my usual style, but I do like to be stretched and challenged! Looking forward to collaborating with some old and new friends this year :)

I haven't done collabs before. Do you have any advice (or where to find it) how to handle sending over demos, and other practical things around collaboration?

@hakk I guess it depends on what kind of collab it is and what you mean. Are you interested in sending me an instrumental to topline? If so, you can just export a WAV file from your DAW and send it via Dropbox or another cloud service like WeTransfer, it doesn't need to be permanently available. But since it's FAWM, it really doesn't even have to be high quality and you can even just send a phone recording, I don't mind! And in case you didn't know, I and most people have an email address linked on my profile.

I think collabs where both people are doing words and music and they need to communicate back and forth or in real time get more complicated. I haven't done any collabs like that yet out of laziness, usually it's just one person on music and one person on lyrics. Hope this helps.

@hakk I'm sure other people have fancier ways of doing it but yep, that's my way! I also use a manual spreadsheet for budgeting so I'm probably considered behind the times, haha.
