Hey devs,
Just a stupid question: which tags are displayed in the profile song section (and feed) when you enter some tags in your song description? Are they random? Alphabetic? How many?

It shows up to 3 tags, in random order (though the order is always that same for a given song).

Is it three tags chosen randomly, or the first three you put in?

Random... I think we can try to make it in the order they show up in the text, but only after this FAWM.

I also think it would be nice to be able to control which tags show in song list (first 3, or whatever).

The song list would be a lot more useful if it showed more than just song title and composer handle. It is a shame to have to chose between selecting 3 tags that seem likely to help in the song list, or include other tags which might be relevant (for challenges, etc.)

I second @mikkel . As a listener I'm attracted to genre tags. Maybe it could be an idea to add another input field where you add your 1-3 tags that are the displayed ones. This would also encourage people to use tags.
But I'm also with the solution that the first 3 are taken.
And yes adding 3 tags to a song lost would be awesome as not everyone listens to everything...

Hey, sorry for using my old thread but I just noticed that the 3 tags under the song are not listed on the profile when using mobile devices. I recommend displaying them as I really don't know which songs to listen to. No urgent feature request.

it's not random, but it is nonsensical and it's on the TODO list to make it better.

looking at the code, i think it picks the 3 tags that have been most recently created (by anyone) in the database, and it has nothing to do with the order you tagged them in the post. there's no "right" way to do it i guess... but we'll try to improve

I just realized that I can put my browser in "desktop site" mode to see some of the features I can't see on mobile. I wanted to see what tags showed up for the latest song I posted, since I put 25 of them in the liner notes. I decided that one of the ones that was showing up wasn't the right tag for the song, and edited it to make more sense. But when I returned to my profile, that was not the only tag that had changed! One of the other tags that had previously shown up for that song was replaced with #firstfruits. I'm mentioning this because from what @burrsettles said I thought it would show tags that either didn't exist before, or that were recently used for the first time. But I know #firstfruits has been around for ages. Did I misunderstand?
