Let go the song!

Liner Notes

#songskirmish #S020423a #letgo Not the best (especially with that 'taught me how to sing' line!) but perfectionism was getting me nowhere! It's about my daughter! The Frozen fan.

Lyrics

Let go! Let go! The song
That's Frozen to your lips.
But oh! But oh! But oh!
Woah! Woah!
It's been here a long time
And taught me things
Like how to sing
But oh! But oh! But oh!
Woah! Woah!
I'll sail my ships
And I'll get through
My Ahtohallen no Shenandoah
What will it be? I do not know!
But oh! But oh! But oh!
Woah! Woah!
Woah!Woah!
Woah!Woah!
Ah___
Mmmm-mm mmm hmm.

Oh, this is so tender and lovely, like you're letting me see what mothering feels like for you. I teared up towards the end. Thank you, And Frozen, yes, what great music - especially all the songs that didn't make it into the movie, but are on the CD - I miss having that particular music in common with my kids...He's a Little Bit of a Fixer Upper still plays on repeat in my head.

@wacha
This is a great take on the prompt and acapella is always impressive to me. Very nice skirmishing!

Hey! I had Shenandoah in MY skirmish too! What are the odds? I like your open style. You seemed to loosen up a bit more. Good work!

My daughter was disappointed this wasn't a Frozen story. Thankyou everyone for your lovely comments! @sunfire @corinnecurcio @didi_bergman @tjeff @chroes @wobbiewobbit @prsongsmith @jlampson @katestantonsings @tcelliott @misterdemp

A capella! So cool. Sounds like something mom might sing to her daughter at bedtime. You go!

Really nice lyrics and singing! I like the imagery in the lyrics and meditative quality of the song itself

Great take on the prompt and lovely to hear a capella. Well skirmished!

@tjeff
A really good lyric, and lovingly sung in such a pared-down a cappella way is beautiful!!

@chroes
Loved the "frozen to your lips" wordplay. The way you embraced the topic here on multiple levels is very cool!

your take on the prompt made me smile, i (i bet we all were) was thinking of that song too. nice to take that idea and run with it. very nice meta quality to it. very enjoyable skirmish :)

I love the way you leaned right into the "Frozen" idea. I can feel the truth of your experience in it! (and I think every parent can identify!)

With a youngster here who was rife for the marketing onslaught of this movie I had trouble not touching on the subject myself. I like that you leaned into a personal angle of it and let yourself not be "frozen" (sorry!) by the constraints. Way to embrace them and break through it. Keep 'em coming!

"I'll sail my ships
And I'll get through
My Ahtohallen no Shenandoah
What will it be? I do not know!" Clever lines!! I also thought of Frozen when I first saw the skirmish prompt being "Let Go". I think it's neat you took off with it and created your own.

Thanks for participating in the skirmish. I like your use of the repeating motif/melody on 'let go'; your good use of repetition. There's a sense of adventure that comes through very well in your shorter lines. I like how you do that.

This is sweet and lovely! My kid loves frozen as well and so I can relate.
