It’s an good metaphor, friendship as a plant that starts as a small shoot, seeds, grows and fruits — I like that as an idea but I wonder if the word “shoot” lends itself well for this metaphor since it sounds a little like you could be saying “chute” or “shoot” as a curse word. Maybe “seedling” or something with less ambiguity as to meaning, just an idea. Similarly with “stick it” — I think your intent might be better captured with “nurse it” or “cultivate it.” Just suggestions, I may not have fully understood.
