That Stench

While hiking in the Northwoods, a nice and sunny day...
Checking out the fauna, and whatever passed my way.
Not really in a hurry, I had no pressing needs...
Enjoying wildflowers, some really big old trees.
Well it hit me like a bombshell, what the holy hell?
A scaredy skunk sprayed me... with that smell.

Chorus:
That stench it just stays, no, it won’t go away
No matter what you try, hell, you wanna lay down and die
Oh, there just ain’t no defense, with that stench so damn intense.

In an elevator, was going down for lunch ...
Normally took the stairway, but that day was in a crunch.
The car was getting crowded, we stopped on every floor...
Seemed like all eternity, we couldn’t fit no more.
Then it hit me like a thunderbolt, what the holy hell?
A heartless hipster gassed me... with that smell.

Surfing, on the TV, found a hopeful politician.
I pondered all his facts and his overt big omissions.
Talking on and on and on, a passion in his eye.
Spewed so many falsehoods, every word a great, big lie.
Then it hit me like a spearpoint, what the holy hell?
This nutbag tried to hose me... with that smell.
