Glaze Calculations

by @evandiem

Liner Notes

A song about pottery and people

Lyrics

Put your make up on
Powder up your face
Power up the oven
Calculate the glaze
You can be evasive
Unlike a vase is or
You can try and make yourself
Over and over again
Build a you in joy from harm
After you've been shoved around
Kintsukuroi the shards
Of all the times that you've been broken down

(Put your make up, put, put your make up on)

Turn your fire on
Resign another failure
Fire up your anger
And calculate the glaze
Formulate the measures
Check your measurement
If that gives you pleasure
Take another take
Could've been a mason
Creative emaciation or
You can try and make yourself
Over and over again
Build a you in joy from harm
After you've been shoved around
Kintsukuroi the shards
Of all the times that you've been broken down

(Put your make up on, put, put your make up on)

You can try and make yourself
Over and over again
Build a you in joy from harm
After you've been shoved around
Kintsukuroi the shards
Of all the times that you've been broken down

(Put your make up on, put, put your make up on)

This has such a cool vibe to it. The guitar part that winds its way around the vocal is excellent. Love the lyrics and vocals - you tell a great story really in a beautifully melodic way. I really like the subtle bracketed BV that sits chanting in the background. Really nice crafted song!

What a cool groove; put your makeup on, put your makeup on. Great lyrics.

Got here via the random song generator. Glad it send me your way. First off, I had to look up Kintsukutoi. Once the meaning of that word was clear, all the pieces to the lyric puzzle were together. That’s some real creative and well composed writing. Fun vibe to the music. I enjoyed the single note lead guitar parts. Overall just a fantastic song.

Oh this is so, so lovely Evan. Kintsukuroi remains one of the most profound artistic (and philosophical, really!) concepts, and the way that you have sculpted this song around the idea of making yourself anew despite hardship? Definitely a FAWM favorite for me this year. Thank you for writing this!

That’s a classy near rhyme…I love this the key change modulation, the guitar, the lyrics. You’re a killer out here!
