Liner Notes

This isn't the sort of song I wanted to write today but I think it's the one I needed to. Love and appreciate each other. x

01/03: EQ'd some static out of the bass track. It needs re-recording really but that's a problem for future me. Also brought the vocals back in the quieter parts and some panning adjustments.

Lyrics

I've got a problem and I
Don't know where I'm going
Will you counsel me
Give me what I need

I need a place to stay
A place I can feel safe
It's not tidy
It fits my mood tonight

This is not the way to go
We're getting left behind
I know you know the rules
They don't override your care

A simple feast with friends
Before we're gone for good
But the joy and closeness
Is all we need

I needed to feel less alone
I needed to feel less alone

Another hard day working
Through hard misunderstandings
Come to me
I'll teach you what you need

Now we are alone
Let me prepare a meal for you
Trust me, I am older
I've learned a thing or two

I needed to feel less alone
I needed to feel less alone
I needed to feel less alone
And there you were
And there you were

I'll help you to get what you need
Even if it seems quite mundane
You were grateful because I had been there
But you don't know how much you'd helped me

And you never know what it's going to mean
And you never know what it's going to mean
And you never know what it's going to mean
And you never know what it's going to mean

In the moment
In the moment
You're always in the moment
Forever in this moment

And you never know what it's going to mean
And you never know what it's going to mean
And you never know what it's going to mean
In the moment

And you never know what it's going to mean
And you never know what it's going to mean
And you never know what it's going to mean
When it means the world

I identify a lot with these lyrics. The guitar tone is excellent. And I didn't expect such a big and epic build up. This is a great song that didn't fail me. Thank you!

This is pretty epic. Liked it a lot when you stand on the plateau at the end, shouting at the elements. The insistent guitar riff all the way through is great too.
I like the raw, humble appeal for help in the words too. #tit4tat2

The soft opening was very nice. Perfect as an intro to your vocals, which have a nice vulnerability. I like how the sounds sort of builds in stairsteps -- great progression as you add each new element and let it swell.

That opening guitar is awesome! The vocals are powerful bringing meaning to the lyrics.

Oh man, love the volume swell after "and you were there" so much. Totally felt that emotional point where words were no longer enough. Super fun to play along with on my drum kit too.

Relatable sentiments in the lyrics, sounding very sincere. Great musical treatment with the gradual build to a cathartic closure. Powerful piece.

Right out of the gate, I love the guitar tone. I'm a big fan of "clean on the edge of breaking out." This builds really nicely, and keeps building. Great dynamic construction. Very cool leads as it moves forward!

Lyrically, I like the mix of the minor key melodies with the lyrics, good contrast. Very cool tune. Enough variation that I didn't feel the 7 minute runtime. 😀

Is this about anyone in particular? It's very sweet.

This sounds more like a @morti song than anything else I've heard you do for a while. It's comfortingly familiar in style.

Great stuff - I love how the music builds but all in service of the song.

Hey, that sounds very convincing. Melody and words are both warm and comforting, and what like most about this song, is the (initially) quiet but subtly varied way of performing. Beautiful arrangement - great ending. Everything very coherent!

well done, this song has a melancholy feel to it
great lyric, vocal, and guitar
