Still Need The Drama

by @morti

Liner Notes

A silly little #pop song about forming #relationships with #humans that started with this title from #titular.

04/03: Now with more delay to smooth out the main lead guitar riffs.

Lyrics

I'm a showman
To an audience of one
I'm in hiding
Behind a puppet show

Don't tell me it's surprising
When you knew what was coming
You assume it's only you who's different
Are you telling me you still need the drama?

Oh-oh-oh, you still need the drama
Oh-oh-oh, you still need the drama
Oh-oh-oh, you still need the drama
Oh-oh-oh, you still need the drama

It's a new day
Full of new surprises
It's a mystery
Make it one to remember

Don't say you're disappointed
Your eyes show your amusement
You expected something unexpected
Are you telling me you still need the drama?

Oh-oh-oh, you still need the drama
Oh-oh-oh, you still need the drama
Oh-oh-oh, you still need the drama
Oh-oh-oh, you still need the drama

What you told me was surprising
That you played all the same games
I'd considered myself above it
But if I'm honest I still need the drama

Oh-oh-oh, I still need the drama
Oh-oh-oh, I still need the drama
Oh-oh-oh, I still need the drama
Oh-oh-oh, I still need the drama
Still need the drama
Still need the drama
Still need the drama

I like the driving drums and bass, and the tone of the guitar. Great imagery. I like the way the guitar and vocals follow each other in the pre-chorus. Catchy pop tune! Great solo in the middle. #tit4tat

I like the arch of the drama (no pun intended) here - the way it flows from the verse to the brigde and to the show tuney chorus. I would emphasize that oo-oo thing even more (more vocals!) to make the chorus really stand out. Interesting panning of instruments, too. #tit4tat

I hear Pretenders and Elvis Costello...but more importantly, I hear @morti! Love the contrast between verses and choruses. And the punchy poppy "oh-oh-oh"s. Great tune!

This progresses so nicely. It’s fun that you just grabbed a title from titular and turned it into this delightful pop song. I could see a car full of teenagers driving with the top down singing along at the top of their voices as this blasted from the radio.

If this song is a delightful three-course meal, the plating is what really sells it. The pre-chorus makes such a marked shift that the chorus feels inevitable and just right. Then of course, coming full circle on the drama was a nice touch! #tit4tat

Perfect pop feeling, really reminds me of the great 80s bands. I liked the reversal of the lyrics in the end too!

It may be a silly pop song, but damn, that's a catchy singalong chorus.

Love this! I definitely can relate to the lyrics, and the guitar riff is really great. I like the harmonies on the chorus. Well done!
