(she/her) I learned about this community from some FAMW friends. I decided to give it a try! The skirmishes sound really interesting. I'm looking forward to the challenge of writing 14 songs in a month. (Well, I think I'm looking forward to it!)

I sing, play guitar, piano, ukulele and fiddle. I used to consider myself mainly an interpreter of other people's songs. I was so surprised when original songs began happening. I'm hoping FAMW will get the creativity flowing as I am a bit sporadic with my writing.

Hi! Thanks for your comment on "Like There’s No Enemy in There" -- and may I say I'm awfully glad you survived. I had (minor) skin cancer at one point, which heightens the fear, but it's nothing compared to what folks go through when a bigger threat surfaces inside. All the best to you!

Glad you liked my final skirmish offering.

Thanks for your comment on Tomorrow. I'm in the middle of creating the mp3 demo - please check back in a little to give it a listen. :)

hi @kkd, welcome to FAWM and thanks for your kind words on "Take five, stay alive." If you'd like to try it on the fiddle, I just posted the link to the notes on my website. And if you record and post, then that would add another tune to your collection. And now for a listen to your tunes too.

Welcome and Happy FAWMing!!

@kkd thanks for the comments on one of my songs. And glad yo see you here. I’ve been writing less since the pandemic started, so finding this a good motivator. Doesn’t come naturally to write a first draft, record it and worry about polishing later, but seems the best way for me to get a bunch written.

Kathy, welcome from another Boston area ukulele player. @liz561 and I have been helping with each others songs for a couple of years, and I got her into this, so I'm glad she's sharing the love. Make sure you put a note in the Greater Boston FAWMers forum post (https://write.fawm.org/forums/438) so that you can meet more locals. Let me know if I can help you get acclimated here!

Hey, welcome to FAWM! 🙂

The 14 songs can sound daunting, but just focus on making more music than you'd normally do — that's already a win! If you're aiming for 14 there are some challenges that really help with the numbers, like collaborations and skirmishes ("make a song in 1 hour").

On Wednesday you'll be able to post songs on the website (there will be a big button!), and also listen to other people's songs and leave comments. In the meantime, you can go to the forum and see if there are any interesting prompts or challenges you'd like to do.
