I usually write on a theme... I've done #LordoftheRings, I've done #Camelot, #space, #cats, random phrases from old journals.... #StarTrek. In 2016 I did ' Songs of the #MilkyWay '. In 2017 I did " #Monoliths " as a theme.

January 29, 2023: Checking my systems and software, updating drivers, and such like. I think my theme for this year will be (wait for it)... " #TINKERING " ... may just be audio, may toss in a video or two. The point is to DO it this year, and not get distracted by mundane things like work. #Composing #Instrumentals #MusicalDiary #Creativity

[Since you ask, 2022 was a crap year (been sort of crappy since 2020, ain't it?) I wrote some things but from September to December my life took a nosedive. My landlady decided to sell her house so I had the great joy of having to leave 5 times a day for showings (never mind keeping it clean), packing. Moving? Problems with the new place meant move-in-date went from Nov 1 to... (kid you not) Dec 19th. Xmas was a Poinsettia and a tuna fish sandwich. Are you crying yet? Well, I didn't mention the dreaded covid. Yep! Fun trying to pack, and search for a new place, when you are coughing up lungs. Now that you wish you never asked... let's get back to #music ! I am determined that 2023 will be #PRODUCTIVE!]

My favourite thing about FAWM, 50-90, NaNoWriMo, GYAWS, etc., is the sense of community and the inspiring nature of the challenges. I try not to hate those who write 100 songs in 20 days or complete the challenge by day 3; and I try to appreciate my own feeble efforts to make at least the required number. But above all, it's the participation and the fact that you wrote something you wouldn't have written without that compulsion to rise to the challenge... for that I am really grateful :D
