Edge Of The Map

by @paintonit

Liner Notes

I went to the river to play guitar, found these old unfinished verses, and worked it into something structured. Then I sprinted home to record it all. I tracked and mixed this in about 3 hours total. Feels so great to be working fast. I'm thinking I want do more #garage #lofi rock for this project.

What's it about? What resides at the edges of what we know? How do we get there?

Lyrics

I am still looking for the perfect truck
Fill the bed I'll say good luck
I am still looking for the perfect truck
Fill the bed I'll say good luck
And leave this town behind for good
Like you always thought I should
I won’t come back
Til I touch the end of the map

I can't keep fishing in a wishing well
Listening to the ocean in a shell
I can't keep fishing in a wishing well
Listening to the ocean in a shell
The shell is all that left remains
But the ocean’s still contained in it
But I won’t hear that
Until I’ve touched the edge of the map

Like once we were at movie land
My two friends started holding hands
That whole night I was bitter when
I should have been happy for them
It's hard to leave a trail
On the ocean when you sail
I won’t look back
Until I’ve touched the edge of the map

Yeah, another quirky and cool tune. I also hear some TMBG in there.

Great indie pop here! I'm feeling They Might Be Giants. I really like the line "it's hard to leave a trail on the ocean when you sail" Especially at the end of the song when you're going off the edge of the map.

Love this Billy! Great chorus, I can’t believe these were parts of different songs. Great way to fuse them together!

Fantastic stuff. Already nostalgic.

Hell yeah! Keep riding this wave. So fun and has that sense of urgency to keep it from feeling too sweet.

This song is amazing! So catchy, especially that guitar riff, nice rough tone you got there.

Love this tune. Heavy weezer vibes. Not sure if that was intended or not, but that's what it reminded me of!
