On Facebook, last night, I asked for ideas for comic book characters/stories to write a song about. I got (as usual) tons of joke suggestions, but I also asked about more serious story lines. Someone suggested Dex-Starr, the Red Lantern from Earth who is a cat. Just as Green Lanterns are powered by willpower, Red Lanterns are fueled by rage. Dexter's owner was murdered, he was removed from the crime scene by cops, and then (while hiding in an alley) snatched up, stuffed into a bag, and then thrown off a bridge. His rage as he fell attracted the Red Lantern ring, and before he hit, he was the newest Red Lantern, fueled by rage.
I love cats, and I loved his origin story. So I wrote this.
