Going to be Alright

Liner Notes

@sjbatavia sent over some lyrics that had this melancholic vibe to me, and I started playing around with patterns and phrasing that felt like they were unable to find home. I think I got what was in my head out, but I'm not sure a pattern that doesn't find resolution until the chorus works as well on the ears as it did in my head. I do feel like the chorus pays off, and Steve indicated he liked the off-beat direction, so all well that ends well I guess... and by ends well, I don't mean my attempt to dabble in Alto for a moment.

Lyrics

[Verse]
On the shores of discontentment
I followed my truth
Dismissing the illusions
Acquired in my youth

It only stands to reason
That I should walk away
I’m looking to start over
I never should have stayed

[Chorus]
I’m going to be alright
I’m going to be alright

I'll be just fine.

[Verse]
Through the echoes of yesterdays
I still hear a call
A refrain that used to guide me
Before this lull.

...and all the things I've lost
still sound in this space
But I can't be bothered to listen to noise
that should have faded away

[Chorus]
I’m going to be alright
I’m going to be alright
I’m feeling good tonight
I’m going to be alright

This felt like a cool stroll through a park. I was reminded of cool bands from the mid 90s - hearing their tunes mostly at Tower Records. I'm thinking it's the chorus...yeah (took another listen) the chorus as simple as it might read, contains a bit more than what appears written and @spazsquatch only makes what's there more enjoyable and expressive. Trying to have a good day. This helps!

the music is just chirpy enough to offset the melancholy of the lyrics.

thus turn out rather grand
