Looking For My Yesterday ❤️

This title came up in the slack chat and I wrote a song (as one does in FAWM!) I wanted this to be a piano ballad with acoustic and electric guitar sparsely put int he arrangement but my tools are not working and neither are my fingers. Guitar it is. Which is funny because the song is intentionally left open to interpretation but sprouted from my own struggle in working with my muse.
Lyrics
My mind is drifting backwards
In echoes all around
Searching through the darkness
Until a light is found
Don't tell me that it's easy
Don't tell me what to do
Don't tell me to quit judging
Or if I should approve
And I'm still looking for my yesterday
I keep hearing footsteps
Reflections near and far
Afraid that I'm still falling
And will land a bit too hard
I struggle with the problem
A riddle or a test
My voice fades into silence
Before I can confess
That I'm still looking for my yesterday
And though my fingers fumble
And though I've lost my voice
I'll survive the struggle
And I will make my choice
I know I'll find the light
If I persevere
I know not where I'm going
But I cannot stay here
It may not be tomorrow
It may not be next week
But I will keep pursuing
That which I know I must seek
And I'm still looking for my yesterday
I'm still looking for my yesterday
The looking forward/back juxtaposition makes the lyric very interesting.
