Are You There God? It's Me, Elvis

Liner Notes
The end of the month has arrived and I'm not going to be able to record my last few songs before March 1st. So, I'm posting up the lyrics now and will get to the demos when I can; probably this weekend. Between work and other obligations, it just wasn't my year for getting to 14. Oh well, I got eight out of it. I really don't like posting these without demos, but I gotta do what I gotta do.
I like Elvis the proper amount an American male should. I'm not over the moon crazy about his music, but it's fine, you know? But, I've been fascinated by his life. And how he, the most famous and sought after celebrity of his time, ended up alone. The past year was a really lonely one for me too.
I started on this one early in the month, but it bedeviled me: something about it just felt off or incomplete so I put off really hammering out the fine print of it. I think I got it in good enough shape now to record it, at least. You know, when I have the time.

Lyrics
You ain't nothing but a wild dog
Tied to a leash
A shark with no teeth
Suede shoes in green
Rhinestone clad boss hog
At the end of Lonely Street
The life of the party
With nowhere to be
Clasped hands plea
Are you there God?
It's me
I feel like I'm living
In a shag-carpeted tomb
I tried to fill up my heart
There's not enough room
You're caught in a trap
You can't crawl out
You'd twist and shout
If you knew how
Begging for scraps
In the seams of doubt
Penny slot clout
Neon soaked shroud
Clasped hands plea
Are you there God?
It's me
I feel like I'm living
In a shag-carpeted tomb
I tried to fill up my heart
There's not enough room
All the people
I push away who
They only want to
Love me
Why?
Why is there never enough room?
