Oh yeah, I see what you mean. That's also a matter of what kind of things you play, some things sound fine even if muddied, others require absolute clarity. The latter kind I can not play for the life of me.
It's a matter of practice and/or recording fuckery. I've recorded all my fast songs piecemeal but I've also played guitar for 24 years. Also, playing slow is an option.
Thanks for the comment on "Phantom Bone"! It's kinda funny like you have these certain bands in mind when making a song and then someone else hears something completely different. Like, I'm no stranger to Morbid Angel and have listened to some Bloodbath, but I was aiming for Obituary. Not that I mind.
Heh, I know the feeling, mate... I actually have a bigger pedal board for one of my bands, but I just haven't got around picking it up from the other rehearsal place yet.
Yeah, it really is! I myself have recently bought the new version of Boss HM-2 and have been playing around with it. Just crafting some death/grind with it! 😀
Thank you for the comment on "Worms Crawl on the Skeletons of the Dead Tyrants"! Your words are much appreciated. I'm very glad I got to work on two tracks with someone as skillful as @sapient :)
Thanks for the kind comments once again! Looks like I'm firmly stuck in my comfort zone this time. Just need to get black metal and death/doom out as well.
Oh that's not good, I hope you're getting better soon. I do some lip thrills and panting as warm up, but i try to limit my screams to some minutes. I couldn't do this for hours!
Thanks a lot for your comment! I was quite estonnished how much my screams improved in a year. Maybe I just needed the right mindset and they didn't hurt at all. That's only two takes! Let's see if I summon a band.
I could hear it! But spring reverb is what makes "Misirilou" sound the way it does. It has such an evocative quality to it and it's an instant signifier of surf rock. I love it :-)
