This is my first FAWM, joining my friend to see what kind of fun can be had. I'm more of a storyteller than a songwriter, but I'm excited to explore another way to share art.

I'm not sure what my lyrics will be about, but I'm sure there will be some about the process of loss and grief as I've been walking through that. It's a bittersweet place to be! I'm also likely to try my hand at historical and/or international lyric styles or construction.

Excited to see what my first FAWM will be like!

Thank you for your comment on Rats in Heaven. And I love your cowgirl profile pic. Happy writing!

@beacon
Would be happy to have you be a lyricist in the Harmony Singers Challenge in the future. I'll probably run it in 50/90 later this year and definitely FAWM 2024.

It’s fun to figure out what you like writing. I started with mor prosey lines and had to work to move towards punchier and more rhythmic. Neat that you are starting from that end of things. A lot easier to find music that way.

I was able to upload the recording of "I'm Not Afraid of the Dark." Thanks so much for the collab!

I have a recording made of "I'm Not Afraid of the Dark." If you can add me as a collaborator to the song, I will upload it (I *think* that is how things work in the new version of the site).

> If/when I need to do anything, please let me know.

I'm working out the guitar and melody tonight, and plan to record it tomorrow. As I'm working through it, I have found a couple spots where I'd like to tweak the lyric a bit to help the scansion against the melody. Both are in the final stanza:

- In the second line, I'd like to repeat "peace" (so it would be "Peace, peace to my soul").
- In the last line, I'd like to finish on "mi alma" (where the ellipsis is now).

I don't think you need to do anything to your original version of the lyric.

I'm planning to make the third stanza function as a bridge, tweaking the chords an melody a bit.

> I'm intrigued to hear what you come up with!

Me too! I hope I can get it down in a form which matches what I'm hearing in my head.

I'm fine with singing on "Not Afraid of the Dark" -- that will make it a little easier to arrange. I just didn't want to take it for granted.

I'd be glad to try my hand at the lullaby setting I mentioned for "Not Afraid of the Dark." Are you interested in singing it?

Many thanks to you as well!!

Thanks! :-)

Thanks for the listen and comment! Yes, the Monster at the End of this Book is exactly what I was referencing. Don't know why it popped into my head, but I read it a lot as a kid, with my dad. :)
