i've done this every year since 2004.

looking forward to a feasty FAWM in 2023... gonna be a lot (?) of fast and sloppy recordings... and maybe some different approaches to song construction... at least i'll give 'em a whirl...

cheers to all you FAWMers and listeners.

Thanks for the comment on 'Givin it all away'! I'm fascinated that you were searching for 'alabaster'. An interesting way of finding songs!

Hey @fireball - Thanks for all your great comments!

On "The Waves of the Sea"... I apparently screwed up - I meant to sing Soldier and then basically gave away the punch line when I sang the wrong word? Oops. Well spotted!

On the Crabtree Terrace song - Believe it or not, apart from skipping a couple emails, what's there is basically what was in my inbox. It was so strange because some of it almost made sense when strung together. If I were to try to curate more, there is so much to pull from, it would be a mammoth task. :)

Hey thanks for the listen! It’s so interesting to hear the music as a backing track, as it was written and recorded before any lyrics were written! Music is so interesting. Thanks again

hey! thanks for the comments... i could do a zoom chat sometime if you're REALLY interested in my process for the 2x4 things. beathasher is only available to me at the moment (just a prototype), but my long-term plan is to make a new tool for the community up at https://muse.fawm.org.

in short, it combines datamining (over 50k+ drum loops) with the ideas of "musical cryptograms" (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Musical_cryptogram) and "geohashing" (https://geohashing.site) to take a text input and generate a quasi-unique set of MIDI drum loop outputs. i don't really tweet much anymore, but here's a thread from last summer when i first started working on it: https://twitter.com/burrsettles/status/1552324552209928192

hopefully by this summer or next FAWM there will be an online version for everyone to be able to use...

I did more autoharp pieces last year, for some reason. Not sure why. Remind me next year you'd like to hear more, if you want. Autoharp was my first instrument, really, after childhood piano lessons. (I love piano too, but I spent too many years without one and am horribly rusty on it!)

Congrats on hitting 14 (and then some) again!

Back in NM? Welcome. We're in MT.

Thanks, Willis! Minimal and/or weak works for me! As long as we have fun. 🙂

Do you want to send me some lyrics and I'll work on something? Or you prefer vice-versa?

Hey, Willis! I really liked the (video) collaborations we did in 2021 and 2022, those are some of my favorite FAWM songs! I'd love to do another collab this year, even if it doesn't have video... let me know if this is something you'd like to do! 🙂
