* 2023 PLAN

As usual, what I originally put here quickly became outdated and had little to do with how my FAWM has actually been turning out. I don't know why I bother putting an annual "plan" here at all! From now on, my plan is just going to be "Have fun and go where the winds of inspiration carry me!"

* BACKGROUND

In junior high a long, long time ago, I elected to take flute as my required instrument. Unfortunately, in my second year, I was put in a third-year class due to a scheduling conflict. Being so far behind everyone else made me miserable. As a result, I did . . . unfortunate things to my flute to sabotage it in order to try to get out of class.

The repair guy figured it out pretty quick.

Nonetheless, while I've always enjoyed a very active listening relationship with music, the whole experience pretty much killed any interest I had in making my own. Until over twenty years later, when for some reason I picked up a keyboard and a computer DAW. And, more recently, the ukulele (tenor and baritone, acoustic and electric).

And now, I'm loving every minute of it.

Thank you so much for taking the time to listen to and comment on my songs. I do like your idea for a video for Happy Clappy Song, @odilongreen - We shall see if I can manage that.
[avatar]
Hey,
thank you for your comment. I'm glad you could make something out of the music. And yeah, "otherworldly" is a good expression then.

Great Avatar

@gslade
I'm flattered at your kind feedback. Thank you much.

@gb9
Thank you for your kind comment on 'Clean House'

Hi there! Thanks for your comment on "Parallax," I'm so glad you enjoyed the vibe I created with that one. To me, the Twin Peaks music is like a place you want to be that's also just kind of unsettled and threatening under the surface. When I was working on the lyrics I think they felt creepier and more dangerous than they ended up, and I can see what you're saying about them being sweet and real reading them back now! Go figure!
Also, congrats on the 15 songs!

@nadine
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed "I love my life". @deadhead did a great job putting my lyrics into an energetic song!
[avatar]
Hey, thanks so much for your lovely comments on my song Bittersweet The Spring, very very kind words, and I'm glad you enjoy listening to my music. Congrats on crossing the FAWM-ish line (can we make that a thing??? ๐Ÿ˜ฌ) hope you've had a great one ๐Ÿ˜„
[avatar]
Thanks so much for listening to "Thank You So Much For That (Useless) Advice" and "Yes, I Travel By Myself"! Appreciate your specific comments and am so glad you enjoyed them!!

the final verse of sisters of the broken feet was lifted verbatim fromthe end of mizoguchi's women of the night...but the events of the film were taken from my own life, when i was victimized by predatory females. but i changed the sex because women get really pissed off when actions they like to pretend are the province of the male are revealed to be universal and not restricted to one sex. besides, people get more emotionally involved in tragic stories where the woman is the victim rather than the ones in which the man is the one who is attacked. so it was the mizoguchi film that inspired me to make the victim a woman rather than perpetuate my own autobiographic mythos. thank you for listening!

thank you for your comments on sisters of the broken feet. i was going for a cinematic feel, but it was inspired by mizoguchi, not lynch.

Hey! Good to see you in the superskirmish and thanks for the comment on "I Miss Winter After All" A few people have rebutted my opinion on snow and ice but I can't help it. I didn't know I'd miss it till it was gone (temporarily I hope). Maybe I can write a song to bring y'all around to Team Frost.
[avatar]
Thank you for your comment on Wreck of a Man. It is much appreciated.
[avatar]
Glad my Killer Sheep pleased you. Just contact me if you want to order a hit!

[avatar]
@artie
Thanks so much for listening and commenting. I love your song titles. Looking forward to checking out some of your tunage.
[avatar]
Thanks so much for the helpful comments!!
[avatar]
Cheers. I'd been looking at song writing tutorials, and one of the concepts was to write a 'main' riff, then write variations on that one riff. I kind of feel like that's what I did with the four note thing, albeit by happy accident.
[avatar]
Thanks for commenting on my song "Relentless Olive".
[avatar]
Bones is the more depressing of my albums ๐Ÿ˜‚ so hopefully it didn't put you in too downbeat of a mood on your commute! But really appreciate you checking out my music, and hope you enjoy the rest of what's on offer ๐Ÿ™‚
[avatar]
Thank you for your lovely comments about my song, mess of a head. That meant a lot to me. Looking forward to checking out your songs!
[avatar]
Thanks, for your kind words! But the first two tracks are just me an a guitar/uke. VERY different than track three. I'm just basically going for whatever I have tiome for or strikes my fancy in the moment.

Looking forward to checking out your stuff!!
[avatar]
Thanks for your very kind encouragement on "Taken Alive." I think I still want to tighten up the bridge melody, as it was a bit "winged/wung" (if you know what I mean) but I am happier with it today than I thought I was yesterday. :)
[avatar]
@nadine
Thanks a lot for your comment on "Right side of the road". I turn my acoustic guitar into an electric because I just don't have one yet xD You come with the weirdest ideas and I'm surprised that they work. Maybe I should have started learning with an electric?!

@mikeb
Thanks for the listen and comment on 'Ghosts of Copper Mountain'!

Hello there Odilon!
Glad you caught a good vibe immersing yourself into Apocalyptic Souldier! I love your very quotable insight "Like an audio movie for the mind" Much appreciated. :0)
[avatar]
Hey thanks so much for listening, and for your kind words. Really glad you enjoyed my first offering. Gotta admit, I'm already struggling this year, gonna take some sheer determination to make it to the end I think. Hope you have a good one too ๐Ÿ˜€

Thank you so much for listening and commenting on Discharge Instructions! Your comment was very helpful to me since I wasnโ€™t sure if the song โ€œworkedโ€. So thanks so much ๐Ÿ˜Š
[avatar]
Thanks so much for the compliment on Crawling! I too am a huge Alice Cooper fan although I've not followed him so much in recent years. Last time I saw him live would have been 77 or 78!
[avatar]
Omg I really hate heard But I kind of have to challenge myself to do it
[avatar]

[avatar]
Thanks! Got a feeling this is gonna be a wild one. I've been going through my snippets and ideas folder and getting a few ideas...
[avatar]
Hi! Thanks so much for the comment! It means a lot to me that youโ€™re checking out my band.

We recorded 10 of the songs I wrote for 50/90 for an album that weโ€™re putting out later this year. This platform was very good for me last year so Iโ€™m back again for more!

Thanks for the encouragement! Hope you have a fun and productive February!
[avatar]
@clioem
Excited to hear your creations!
[avatar]
@cts
I shall keep hope alive. Weโ€™ll live in the moment, mess around and find out!
[avatar]
@cts
Greetings, Gate! (Please tell me you understand that reference). Hope all is well. Have a great FAWM and keep the unique, unique. We need it!
[avatar]
I have good instincts in this regard. I want, "I told you this would happen."
[avatar]
You are too kind, or maybe some sort of pervert. As always I look forward to your slightly twisted storytelling. (How about you find your damaged flute and make some avant-garde music with it?)
[avatar]
Hi-di-hey! Glad you are here! I am looking forward to your quirky good songs! I agree that the pace of 50/90 is more my speed but will also be doing what I can here as time allows.
[avatar]
Thank you Odilon. It's very kind of you. I always have fun listening to your songs. Looking forward to many more :)
[avatar]
