I've upgraded from my TASCAM DP-008EX and then importing it into Reaper to using a Universal Audio UA247 directly with Reaper. I've also upgraded to an AT2020 over my SM57 for recording guitar and vocals.

All of my acoustic songs are done on my Tanglewood acoustic guitar though occasionally I will use my Yamaha Guitalele. For my softer, dreamier electric stuff I use my Tangelwood hollow body guitar. For the the more aggressive electric I will use my Fender Squire Strat. I have ukulele as well as a stylaphone which is used very sparingly.

I play some cajon so that appears from time to time as does the shaker and tambourine.

I also have small midi keyboard and have been exploring synths quite a bit.

I'm going to be taking a bit more relaxed approach to things. As much as I love to get that trophy, I need to keep my health and other responsibilities in mind. I'm starting off with a bit of a handicap, with my health and am being mindful of that.

@nadine
Thanks a lot for your comment on "99 Points of Karma"!
[avatar]
Thanks for the kind words on "glimpse" love working with that dark slow sound.
[avatar]
Hey Catherine, Thanks for the listens and comments!
[avatar]
Gotcha’ Wacha! Thanks for the nice comments and suggestions. I did play it at an open mic this week with a violin player and I agree…just a light touch would be ideal. I appreciate your listening and thoughtful comments.

@nadine
There's not much to do. Change a chord, rerecord a backing vocal, tweak the mastering. We came pretty far during FAWM!

Good to hear you're a bit better. I'm struggling with headache due to weather, stress and working on too much music. I may need a rest nut I can't xD

@nadine
Thanks for your comments, Catherine!
Happy to hear that "Glimpse" hit you in the right spot. We're close to finish this one, so the version on FAWM is already 90%. Only tweaking some minor things.
Haha, I'm definately not into glitter vampires. But I decided that I won't work on "Just one bite", as it's been a quick write and I don't have any idea on instrumentation... and I'm full with projects.
How do you feel?

@nadine
Thanks for your kind words 🤗 it's also fun to talk to you! You finally managed to win FAWM, congrats!

@gm7

Thanks for the kind comment and encouragement on "Flaming June!" I doubt I'll ever see the inside of a studio, but I am definitely enjoying my writing!
[avatar]
In every way, shape, & form—thank you!! I hope next week is full of creativity and rad music for you.

Hi Catherine, Thanks for the lovely comment on Sloth Rider. I will gladly take any comparison to Black Sabbath - my all time fave band. Geezer Butler was one of the reasons I picked up a bass.
[avatar]
Thanks for commenting on my song "Choose".

@nadine
Thanks for your comment on "Right side of the road" I'm happy you enjoyed!
[avatar]
thank you catherine for your comment on down with freedom. ive been trying to find historical incidents that in some parenthetical way reflect events in our times today,,,trying to put together sort of a musical fresco to find some clarity in todays confusion. how is your benefit album coming? i have a lyric based on robert bresson's film, "mouchette" that i think might be appropriate, and was thinking of asking owl to do the music for it.

Hi Catherine, thank you so much for your lovely comment on Let Go, I'm really glad you like it. Happy FAWM!
[avatar]
I wrote it wrong - I meant I'd started my FAWM of 2023, not joined FAWM in 2023. I joined FAWM in 2011. Didn't mean to steal fawmling valour.
[avatar]
Thanks for checking out Mama Dang Left Us! Glad you liked it.
[avatar]

[avatar]
Hi Catherine, happy FAWM to you! Let it be productive, looking forward for hearing your new tunes =))
[avatar]
Catherine! Glad you are here and running the movie title challenge! I hope you have a great FAWM. I don’t know what anything is in your first paragraph here, but understand in the second paragraph that you have some different guitars for different styles - I catch on quick! I got one of mine out today and quickly recognized that I need some calluses sooner than later - so may start with lyrics, GB stuff, uke, and maybe some winds!
[avatar]
Hi, there! I'm looking forward to hearing some killer tunes from you this year! Happy FAWM, stay healthy and mindful.
