Liner Notes

#retrowave #synthwave #deathmetal #blackmetal #synth #80s

Synth is a cheap eighties Yamaha DSR-500, with some verbs, delays and saturation. Drop-A tuned Jackson strat to Bogren Rev-C. Loki Bass II and Krimh drums.

The lyrics are short and simple, inspired by overseas politics.

Lyrics

The mark upon their foreheads
A malice within them
The beast within their skins
The hatred within their veins

The seventh seal now open wide
A silence upon the earth

A cool mix of styles, reminds me of Arcturus. The subject matter has also been on my mind lately, it's very conducive to this style of music.

Yup this is pretty much what it feels like in america! Cool song!

Love love love the track and the vocal is spot on. I don’t make this kind of music but imagine that recording this type of vocal well takes a lot of skill and talent. Either way, you nailed it. I’m happy the “random song” button gifted me this one.

I dig the balance in this song between the atmospheric/gothic/melodic elements and the heaviness of the drums and vocals

I see what you mean about opening with the same theme 😀

I agree with @emplate, the opening and closing vocals are really evocative. That riff and vocal that comes in at 0:20 is SO good - reminds me of some Mediterranean black metal (which I love).

That clean vocals + blastbeat part makes me think of Opeth. I especially enjoy the vocals in the opening, they are very ominous. Also, absolutely great retro synth sounds here, goddamn!

I’m not sure where “overseas” is to you, but I’m in the US, and this captures my mood today perfectly. I’ve just been brooding about everything wrong with the world and world leaders. God help us all…

I was interested to hear how you'd combine all these genres and i'd say that you've succeeded. All the different parts flow really well together creating a coherent song instead of a mishmash. On top of that, you're vocals are awesome and easy to follow, something i miss in a lot of tracks with screamed vocals. Good job, i'll be on the look out for more of your stuff!
