Skirmish: Write a lyric with a fore... (@corinnecurcio)

The challenge was to feature a foreign phrase. “Operator słów” is not a common Polish phrase (I coined it, for all I know), but translates as “word operator.” “Słów” is pronounced “swoof,” almost like “swoove,” a slang variant of “smooth,” so the whole point of the song is the pun on “smooth operator.” The other Polish phrase is supposed to be “słowa przez całą noc,” “words all night.” This is a late entry in the skirmish because it took an hour to arrive at an almost-clean performance.

Lyrics

I know you think I must have some kind of racket
I mean look at my history
If the stories don’t jibe then you also can’t trust the eyes
It’s all a big mystery

But while you’re digging through
Everything I’ve ever written
To try to find the truth
You’re staring straight into the proof
Operator słów

It’s not the clues in every novel and essay
It’s more about how many
For comparison the average American man
Hasn’t written any

So while you’re digging through
Everything I’ve ever written
To try to find the truth
You’re staring straight into the proof
Operator słów

Some people say I’m a smooth operator
They are almost half right
Słowa przez całą noc
Writing all night

I used to write a million words at a time
Then I cut that in half
And half again and again and again and again
Till you just have to laugh

So while you’re digging through
Everything I’ve ever written
To try to find the truth
You’re staring straight into the proof
Operator słów

Love the chord progression, and your exuberant singing and strumming. Cool story in the lyrics - seems to be about the writer's struggle.

That last verse is just amazing. It's so good I read it five times and loved it more each time. These are great lyrics!
I'm half Polish. I know very little of the language. Mostly names of food that my mother cooked lol..(peirogi, golabki, kolazcki....) My mother's parents came from Poland, but they insisted that she speak English, and she was not very fluent in Polish. But she sure could cook the food.
Anyway, enjoyed the song very much!

Great idea to create a song around. Good vibe and sounds.

I like the rhythmic feel. It gives an edgy backing for the vocal. Good job.

I think this is pretty darn cool. I don't know any Polish but now, I guess, I know a little!
