Liner Notes

Another one that started on the piano, here with the main theme. Trying to channel my inner Nobuo Uematsu - he has a particular knack for town themes that make you feel safe and at home.

Things got a bit muddy and overcomplicated when I piled the "violin" (yeah it doesn't sound anything like a violin) on top of the woodwinds for a bit of counterpoint, so I just pulled it out and made it an alternative reprise of the theme. And then it felt too naked so I stuck the bassoon under to a barely noticeable level. Not sure if that was a *good* move, but it sure made things less busy.

I also sampled the strings from EastWest Hollywood Strings because I wasn't happy with any of the ones that came packaged in ChipSynth SFC. And man, that took an awful lot of cutting down and bit-crunching to fit the limited ARAM of the Super NES. 😅

So, this is the first town theme, meant for safe havens from the dangerous overworld and dungeons the heroes need to battle through. Thanks for listening!
