Liner Notes

This is my very first FAWM song ever!

I recorded a four-chord pattern walking down the fretboard on my tenor ukulele because it sounded cool, and then improvised two violin/viola tracks on top of it. This was straight improv into the DAW, no retakes or stopping for "wrong" notes or chords that didn't land where I intended them. I did a tiny bit of panning and reverb afterward, but nothing else.

Improv is my favorite thing to do. I hope you enjoy!

I literally wanted to write “ooooooh” first thing after hearing this and then looked down and saw that was exactly what Jen led with! In the wee hours of the morning it snowed here (yes in Alabama) and that view just worked so well to accompany this track. It seems to feel ever more intense throughout even though the tempo doesn’t change until near the end. I love how your instruments weave in and out and how I can always clearly hear which pitch area they are staying in.

Gorgeous improv Sunnie! I miss you so much! (And so do my clarinets.) If you want to do a collab together just let me know.

oooooooooohhhhh, I love the unsettled feeling that we get from the first chord to the second chord...through the third chord. . .and the fourth. . .and then when we come around again to the tonic it's so satisfying!! The kind of thing I can't play on harp AT ALL, but love to listen to. Beautiful work--the violin and viola twine and play off of each other and I love how you endlessly come up with beautiful ideas!!

Wow really nice playing and improvisation, there's some great melodies and counterpoint throughout this. Sounds composed, love it!

Haunting and wistful. Someone walking through a mansion and opening door after door, always expecting to find something, even danger, but it's just an empty room.

Gorgeous! I love listening to your improve! - Natalie

Fabulous to have you here Sunnie! Those chords are gorgeous (and very @peteralway as mentioned by Lauren). The improve is also deliciously melancholy.

Ok about 2/3 of the way through the track I realized it makes me think of ghosts slow dancing in a graveyard. Maybe that's a very specific image, but....it's a very romantic piece, in the classical sense of the word. It conjures a MOOD. Very cool.

SUNNIE!!!!! YOU DID THE THING OMG I’M SO PROUD OF YOU!!!!

this is SO OMINOUS! you created a lot of tension here, but the good cinematic kind that you wanna bask in. i heard it and my first thought was “this is a @peteralway ass chord progression” 😂 but ah, the violin and viola layering??? i could listen to it for hours.

PLEASE DO MORE OF THESE I WANT SO MANY OF THEM SO I CAN ENJOY THEM ON A LOOP AAAAAA

CONGRATS!!!!1!!

Ooh! This is very cool. A great embellishment on a nice chord progression that makes me "feel ways about stuff."

This is lovely and relaxing and peaceful. All things I need more of right now, so I very much enjoyed it.

Very yummy. This feels like a reprise of something epic! I love how it hints at a bigger theme. this feels like it would be a great closing track to something bigger!

Nice piece. Particularly like the bits where the violins are doing parallels. Quite a few bits you could pull out and develop if you were inclined. I hope to hear more!
