Back to Basics

Liner Notes

A simple #folk #indie #pop song about songwriting. More specifically, how hard it is to write songs for FAWM in particular.

Lyrics

Looks like we're going back to basics,
Just my fretting hand, my pick,
and my belief that I just better get it done.

Feels like a while since I've seen myself
This clearly the in the mirror,
Breath was fogging up the glass, I had to

Take a couple paces back.
Turn the lights off, fade to black.
Focus in on what I lack
And what I want to have.

I can remember each and every unsuccessful complication.
I couldn't tell you one that worked, I guess I'm going back to basics.

Gotta keep it short and sweet,
Just two verses and a chorus,
Skip the bridge, it's not important, oh no.

It's electric but the channel's clean
So it'll sound authentic,
Like I meant it even though I think I'm

Falling all the way apart,
I miss the screaming of my heart,
I'm just not built for quiet parts or
else I hear the voices saying

I can remember each and every unsuccessful complication.
I couldn't tell you one that worked, I guess I'm going back to basics.

Very authentic song. I like the timing of the vocals. Sometimes there are these little stops and of grids which make it interesting. Lyrics are also good
