I got out early Saturday
Went in to the store
Banged in to a line-up
Right back out the door

Tired, I headed for the beach
Couldn’t find a park

Got home after dark
Saw lots of cabanas
Blocking up the shore
Line-ups just like Leningrad
Waiting there for "MORE!"

I went up to the council to talk to our Mayor
Would he even see me?
Did he even care?
Went into his parlour
Was early last fall
I checked the well-framed photographs
Lined along the wall
I could sense a certain pattern among those
Markers of achievement
Our town’s first traffic-light a triumph
Where I preferred bereavement
Then his Worship walked out
Showed me through his door
And on his desk a single sign;
Four letters spelling "MORE!!!"
