Psychologist in Love
Liner Notes
#acousticrock #lovesong #poprock
The perils of a relationship in which both people are people-pleasing, looking for red flags, following dating strategies, or otherwise trying to scrutinize each other’s inner workings. This follows a classic shape for a troubled love song in which the verses say it’s hopeless, then the bridge argues that it might not be so bad.
Lyrics
In some ways we know each other all too well
In other ways we don’t know each other’s names
If this was a story you could tell
It would make us sound like some kind of twin flames
Make us sound like some kind of twin flames
But that would be too sorry to believe
I would never want anyone to live their life that way
I have heard that I should take some time to grieve
And before I go I have one more thing to say
Before I go I have one more thing to say
I can’t be a psychologist in love
And it’s not because it hurts
Although it does
It’s more that
As you may have guessed
I’m not really
A psychologist
I think I’ll just go back to where I was
If I explain myself in the language you would use
I stumble over terminology
I end up looking more lost and confused
But there must be a word for you and me
There must be a word for you and me
I can’t be a psychologist in love
And it’s not because it hurts
Although it does
It’s more that
As you may have guessed
I’m not really
A psychologist
I think I’ll just go back to where I was
Can’t you hear me breathing
Doesn’t that mean something
What if we sit in silence
Till the echoes
Of the stories
Fade away
Then I might not have to say
I can’t be a psychologist in love
And it’s not because it hurts
Although it does
It’s more that
As you may have guessed
I’m not really
A psychologist
I think I’ll just go back to where I was
