Lyrics
I’m still waiting on my four leaf clover, baby
I know that you can get your luck somewhere else
But I’m still waiting on my lucky penny, baby
No use in cryin’ gotta keep what you’re dealt
Tell me I’m insane for taking chances
But that’s what I do
Do it all for the chance to prove
I’m the one who’s out of luck
Rolled the dice and now I’m stuck
Can you help me, baby?
I’m still waiting on my four leaf clover, baby
I know that you can get your luck somewhere else
But I’m still waiting on my lucky penny, baby
No use in cryin’ gotta keep what you’re dealt
I don’t wanna give you more excuses
But I did everything right
Knocked on wood, crossed my fingers tight
Luck flew right out of my hands
Like a pebble in the sand
I’ve been losing lately
I’m still waiting on my four leaf clover, baby
I know that you can get your luck somewhere else
But I’m still waiting on my lucky penny, baby
No use in cryin’ gotta keep what you’re dealt
Mmmmm…
Can you tell me what’s the deal with this?
Oh oh, I’ve been running off my heels with this
Trying to open up the gate
Testing out my fate
Yeah, oh
I’m still waiting on my four leaf clover, baby
I know that you can get your luck somewhere else
But I’m still waiting on my lucky penny, baby
No use in cryin’ gotta keep what you’re dealt
gotta keep what you’re dealt
still waiting on my..
still waiting on my luck

So much cool going on in these lyrics, Janele, and how it all truly stuns in music and vocal reveal. So dug those chorus lines: "But I’m still waiting on my lucky penny, baby/No use in cryin' gotta keep what you’re dealt." Chilling, revealing, solid. How those lines so highlight what I saw as the crux of this storyteller's story--shedding subliminal light on just who the storyteller is, what that storyteller might have encountered in life (to this point), and shows an underlying absolute strength the storyteller has for having made it through life until now, and, with a helping hand always extended--despite trials encountered. Golden!
All here has similar-like expression, I think, and gives one thought-provoking feelings in line with that of Springsteen's "Reason to Believe." Two different overall song styles, yes, but, nonetheless, both having that "it" song underbelly, and fab connection factor to listeners.
I find your performance here different from so many others I've listened to thus far this FAWM. Different in the fact that this song as you sing presents/gives a true down-to-earth busking-like raw quality that shines 100%. Here's to you bottling different during FAWM and working it so well to entertaining, Janele!
You should try bringing my "Dear Santa" lyric to life as a collab. A different song style (and required vocals, in a sense) than what you have here with your "Waiting On My Luck" performance, but it's that "different style" I feel you could ace, because you so crushed that here for what I felt a different style of song than I've encountered this FAWM, as I earlier mentioned. Check out my "Dear Santa, let me know if you're up to taking it on. No prob if "no," just asking.
