Chris usually writes full- and short-length romance, horror, and mystery fiction, but has always had an ear for #music, interest in #lyrics, and desire to write #songs.

In 2022 he aced his first 50/90 challenge with 51 lyrics! And he wrote it all--#lovesong to #pop, #rock to #country, #metal to #rap. A few collabs and skirmishes done at that time, too--whether he put lyrics to a FAWMer's music, or others added music/vocals to his original writes--he was hooked. #Songwriting and this music-community platform was for him. Now he's back in Feb 2023 for his first FAWM!

Hoping to connect with those from 2022 50/90, and looking to interact with other FAWMers here, Chris is open to #collabs if all is right. Stoked about writing his first album this month, he can't wait to get started!

👍Had a blast @fawm 's #FAWM23, co-#FAWMers!
👉 14 #album #lyrics written
👉 1st concept #rock #metal #album done
👉 4 album lyrics #collabs
👉But 😎, I also wrote what I consider some other fab lyrics in Feb '23 that weren't part of my album write, or ever posted on my account during Feb--because I wanted focus on the album's lyrics. Among "those" non-posted lyrics were my original lyrics, re: my "Come Into the Rain" #collab with @sheslin --originally titled "Come In from the Rain"--and my "Those Crazy People" lyrics for @thetau 's just under 4 minute Christmas #jazz #piano #instrumental posted on the composer's page and asking for lyrics.
👉My original "Come In from the Rain" title was a metaphorical one. That is, a title for a lyric dealing with a person having troubles, thus, symbolized by "rain," because troubles are raining down on the lyric's main character, and that that person should "come in from the rain," because that person's troubles are over--due to someone else understanding them, helping them, and "welcoming them in from out of the rain of trouble in their life."
👉My "Those Crazy People" submitted lyrics to music composer Russ, I've been told, don't appropriately fit the music-only "Those
Crazy People" Christmas piece posted. But those lyrics were such fun for me to write, and I think they're quite entertainingly holiday good, too. That's why I'm posting it for other FAWMers to enjoy in these remaining days of this wonderful lyric-sharing platform still open/active till the end of March '23. But since we no longer have the ability to post new lyrics/songs on our account, due to FAWM itself having officially ended, I'm posting, instead, the two above-mentioned lyrics here on my Soundboard for all to see and enjoy! Happy post FAWM23, all! ⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️ 1/3

3/3THOSE CRAZY PEOPLE
Talk V1:Those crazy people; So silly shopping they r;How I kno Santa’s the star;At Christmas

I’m so thinking of Christmastime
Waiting on u, St. Nick,2
Singing u here to be w me
How I want u part of my family

So come on,Santa
Hurry ur sleigh
It’s not that I c u every day
So now I’m waiting on u to arrive

But don’t disappoint
Please
Santa
I’ve been a good girl
So says my list,no?
U see,dear Santa
Gifts r my best friends
But was I 2 bold?
Asking for all gold?
Did I ruin chances w u?

U c, dear Santa,
If that’s the tru case
How can I make it up 2 u?
Re-write my letter
Or would it b better
2 just say
2 just say
2 just say
2 just say
2 just say I’m crushing on u?

U can’t keep me waiting
Dear Santa Claus
My heart’s been all yr on pause
And I don’t think
U’d want mine 2 break
On a holiday technicality clause

Ur snowy white beard, red-rosy cheeks
Soft cuddly suit,black boots
Dainty white gloves
And u, 2, my love
R the bees knees
I’m all ill at ease
Just thinking…

I c those crazy people
Rushing their strides
Hurrying 2 buy pretty gifts
If only they knew
All they needed 2 do
Was to write u
As I do the yr thru

But, dear Santa, is my voice coming thru?
R u hearing my song?
If not, what else can I do?
2 get u to notice me
Today?

What am I missing?
Please tell me so
I’m always all ears
For this holiday, u kno
So,come on tell me
What’s it gonna take?
2 help make me…

Cookies & milk
Is what I used 2 leave u
And u enjoyed them w glee
Now I’m asking for something more
An under-the-mistletoe
Under-the-mistletoe
Under-the-mistletoe kiss w me

U c, dear Santa, I’m stuck on u
And all it is that u stand for
Don’t squash my spirits,or should I fear
That u’ll just pass my house on by here?

Please don’t say it’s so
I really want to kno
About us,dear Santa
Can u tell me,please?
I know I wrote u
But now I’m asking
Where I stand w u
This
Year

2/3 *orig title/lyrics
COME IN FROM THE RAIN
No times of sorrow
Should blind tomorrows
And not every storm
Is an obstacle

Although you believe
You can no longer dream
’Cause mind games make it seem
Impossible

Chorus:
Drown your sorrows
In a wash of the rain
Give it your pain
Come in from the rain

With troubles overbearing
A crazy world blaring
No shadow even knowing your name
Bathe all the insane

Listen for the rain
Let it sweep in over you
Then do as I do
Kick off your shoes and…

(Chorus 2x)

Hi Chris, I appreciate the long feedback and old movie insights! I posted the band in the box version of Busking on the Avenue if you care to listen.

@nadine
Thanks for your kind words on my unnamed happy jazz mood, Chris! Yes, I have quite high quality standards. The recording is good enough to show the idea, but I will do that properly. My freshly restringed guitar needs 1-2 weeks until I can play and record something. The song will get some vocals and maybe further instruments. After the lyrics have been finished, we will chose an appropiate name.

Hey there! I guess you don’t mind if I make our collaboration public on Soundcloud (kept it private before just in case)? Have a great weekend.

@johns
Hi Chris, Thanks for your comments on my lyrics, Gordon did a great job on the music, as usual.

@gordon
I've had a go at Beyond Tomorrow, see what you think. Gordon

Hi Chris, once again, thanks for the kind words and analysis of "Every caress". Much appreciated.
[avatar]
Hey Chris, thanks so much for your kind words. I really appreciate it!
I'll take a look at the lyrics you linked to, but I'm afraid to say that with only 8 days to go, it's looking awfully like my dance card is going to be too full to squeeze another one in... 😬

@gslade
Hey Chris. I appreciate your insightful feedback on my mom song. I am flattered that you would consider letting me use your lyrics and put them to music. With that said, I think it would be disingenuous for me to record a song that you likely feel very strongly about and put a lot of passion into, when I do not feel the same, when it comes to the unfortunate pro life/choice debate. I would love to collaborate on something else, where we could leverage our passions without clashing on our world views. Hope that makes sense.

@nadine
Wow, thanks for your comment. You make me blush. I don't know where the lyrics came from, they just happened.... you know some songs just happen in a kind of vision. I have a certain style and vocal sound in my mind, which is a bit hard to find cause its rare. You're right that you need somebody who connects to the lyrics. Let's see what will happen.

Glad you liked my "Obsolete" song.

@gordon
Hi Chris, as promised (threatened?) I couldn't resist having a go at The Riddler. I hope you don't mind, but seriously, let me know if you do. It's an interpretation of the lyrics and that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

@gordon
Hi Chris, you really are too kind! Thanks for all the lovely comments. Also, would you mind if I had another go at one of yours? You never know what might pop out, but hopefully something might?

@nadine
Thanks a lot, Chris! Today I suffered another blackout, but not electricity - internet. I should have continued the blackout blues, but I found a new battery for my guitar!

@tezzin
Thanks for your thoughtful comments on "If I Dare Seek". I think that one's likely a keeper and will get a more polished treatment when the month is over, for sure. :)
[avatar]
Thank you Chris for giving my tune a listen. I appreciate your encouragement and glad you liked it. Have an awesome fawm!

@gordon
Hi Chris, you really are far too kind, but thanks for the kind words. I never really think about what I'm doing, because, to be honest, I have no clue what I am doing, but I am so glad you liked it.

@gordon
See what you think sir. Hope you don't hate it! Gordon

@gordon
Hi Chris, I left a comment on My One and Only as I really enjoyed it and would love to have a go at it. Let me know and I'll see what pops out!

@andrea
Thanks for your kind comments on Average Joe. I appreciate it. The song should be out today ;)

Thank you Chris!!

@monty
Thanks for the nice feedback on my "Untitled Instrumental." I did not particapte in 50/90 there last few years but may giver it another try in July. It's been more like 10/90 the last few times I tried which is still better than I would have done otherwise.
[avatar]
Thanks for listening to "Didn't Say Stay." I mayyyyy have bought a few other groceries, but liked the way those sounded together (and they were the main things we were out of at home). :)
[avatar]
Ahhhh Chris my friend Larry built that track - and I am going to create a melody and lyrics for it - he tagged me for the collab a bit early. If you could edit the comment for him it would be wonderful. He composes in Band In A Box which is a very cool product. Thank you Chris!!!

@nadine
Yeehaw! I'm happy you enjoyed "High Noon". Oh, I really didn't think of this movie, I was more focussed of the burning sun imagery (but "Burning Sun" sounds like a 80s power ballad yikes!). But yes, that's been a great one!
And yes, feel free to add the tags to metal. I think your lyrics work well with heavier music.
[avatar]
@tiias
Thank you very much for your kind comment! I can also collaborate to sing on something if you get the music (can do different styles)
[avatar]
Thank you for listening. Good luck on your album!
[avatar]
Glad you liked my super hero song. Thanks for your enthusiastic praise.
[avatar]
Thanks for the beautiful write-up of 'Darkness Gets There First'! Reading your description while listening to it recontextualized the song for me, which is pretty amazing!
[avatar]
Oh wow! I wasn’t thinking stalker at all but I can totally see that and now can hear a really creepy version in my head! Dark!
[avatar]
@nadine
Thanks a lot, Chris! Yes, I know the Beatles song, it's wonderful and tragic. I had some fun playing with the words. Completely different approach for me.
[avatar]
Thank you for commenting so thoughtfully on "Monster at the End" it's nice to be in a group of people who read/listen to lyrics! ;) I love language.
[avatar]
Thanks for giving my shanty a spin. The tune is from a genuine shanty called "Rosabella"
[avatar]
Thank you, Chris!!

@andrea
Thanks for your thoughtful and kind comments on These Haunted Dreams. It seems my first post in FAWM and 50/90 is always a dark one.
[avatar]
Thank you for your thoughtful comment! I’m off to google “The Magic Garden!”

@nadine
Thanks a lot for your comment Chris! Yes it's been very carthatic to write and scream those lyrics! I hope I get a full band cause I'm not happy with MIDI guitars.
[avatar]
@nadine
Yes, I half quoted AC/DC, but I already do rock n roll without being on the top 🤘😜🤘

I really want to collab with you but it's hard because I'm not a vocalist. I could draft a melody and phrasing based on your lyrics, but somebody else has to record. I tried to record some of my 50/90 drafts but even after 3 months of practise they didn’t reach my minimum standards. This year I'm even pondering if I shall record vocal demos when it's 98% clear that I won't sing the final! I'm not there yet and it doesn't feel like "home". Same applies with most guitar recordings. I can draft, maybe record some slow easy open string stuff, but I don't nail certain chord types and changes good enough yet.

I keep you in mind if I have an instrumental and a vocalist who enjoys working with a lyricist.
[avatar]
@nadine
I'm practising every day, but it's a long way to the top and I lack of patience. You'll hear me shred this FAWM, I promise.
[avatar]
@nadine
Thank you! If you find the time you should also join the random collaboration challenge. It's a great way to find people to put your lyrics into music.... or trying to write something for a specific person. Most collabs happen!
[avatar]
@nadine
Thanks for your warm welcome and your kind words! Reading this from a proficient lyricist makes me happy :) You're right. I guess I will have a hard time restricting myself from writing songs and lyrics. I already joined the random collab challenge as lyricist. No idea who I'll get and what I'll write!
Have a great and productive FAWM!
[avatar]
Have a great FAWM Chris! I am looking forward to your wonderful lyrics and hope we get to do a collab again. Welcome back!
