Rodeo Where Old Cowboys Go
Liner Notes
This is a song about my boyhood hometown, Conroe Texas. As young boys, my two brothers and I helped pull roots from a new rodeo arena, after discing was done on the ground. We were paid with free tickets to the rodeo and a soda-pop.
Lyrics
Rodeo Where Old Cowboys Go
It’s a small town rodeo where old cowboys go
Where old cowboy friends meet and tall Texas tales grow
That small town is in Texas where it’s called Conroe
I miss that old rodeo where old cowboys go
To most folks it’s just a town that is old
But to me the streets are laid down in gold
To me nothing beats the town I love so
Conroe, where cowboys go to rodeo
(Instrumental)
Now, I’ve never been rich but I’ve lived what is poor
I would give my all for that town with no grandeur
For a small town rodeo where old cowboys go
Small town Conroe, where cowboys go to rodeo
To most folks it’s just a town that is old
But to me the streets are laid down in gold
To me nothing beats the town I love so
Conroe, where cowboys go to rodeo
It’s a small town rodeo where old cowboys go
