This is my 7th FAWM, and I love it more with each year. I'm slow at writing music, so my most productive FAWM saw only 10 pieces, but I seem to write my best stuff here, so I don't mind. I write mostly instrumentals, but have written some choral pieces as well.

I use Sibelius First, a music notation software to create my scores, then I post the Sibelius audio playback of them so, sorry, but I'm not playing any of those simulated instruments you hear.

I discovered the joy of songwriting at a Ladies' Rock Camp in 2012. I play a little piano, have learned some music theory, and have sung in many community choirs over the years.

As always, half the fun of FAWM is listening to a lot of great new songs written and performed by my fellow FAWMers, so you can bet I'll be doing a lot of that. Happy Fawming everyone!

@tezzin
Thank you for your kind words on "Roam" and "If I Dare Seek"! πŸ˜„
[avatar]
Thank you so much for listening to "I Remember Dying." Much obliged!

@kosch
Thank you for listening and your comment on "The Kicker (w/ extra doot doo's...)" - it is *maybe* my FAWM-fav. Already played it out, and folks seemed to like it - and joined me on the "doot-doos" - audience participation always fills my heart.
(an added bonus, of your comment, was finding your music πŸ˜€ Very cool.)
[avatar]
Great feedback on Artichoke Darling thank you!!
[avatar]
Yes! Let's plan to collab next FAWM. Thanks for your kind comments on "Fantasy in B Minor"!
[avatar]
Thanks Audrey! The Band are one of my all-time favs, so if that song brought them to mind - however vaguely - I'm a happy man :)

@nadine
Thanks for your comments! I'm happy you enjoyed my songs!

@kkd
Thanks so much for your comments on β€œeverybody Needs” and β€œBlink of an Eye.” I really live harmony and really enjoyed adding those. Glad it sounded kind of old times. I was hoping for that!

@sollis
Thanks for the insight into how you write with Sibelius, Audrey! I always like getting a peek behind the curtain and learning about how musicians make what they make. I had a piano playing friend who used to work a lot with Sibelius too, but I could never get my head around it. What works for one person doesn't necessarily work for another I suppose. But in your case, it's clearly a very useful and welcome writing aid!

Thanks for all of your kind comments! FAWM was a blast and it is so cool seeing all the stuff people put out, this is awesome

@jeff9
Thanks, Audrey, for dropping in for some "Cold Beer" and for your kind comment.
[avatar]
Glad you liked my "Give me some Space!" - I agree with you these two were never meant to be. But sometimes it can take years for the couple themselves to realise that. And splits are rarely painless for one or both.
[avatar]
thank you for your kind words on my Spring Has Arrived lyrics! It was a nice surprise to come today.
[avatar]
Thanks for listening to my Seaside Shuffle, and your kind comments!
[avatar]
Thank you for your kind words on the song "Answers for you" :)
[avatar]
I appreciate your comments so much. I wish i would have known about Vom’s lyrics, but I wrote the song before knew it was coming. πŸ€ͺ I find lyricism incredible (I have no skills there) and am even more amazed since people can form a lyric around my music. Songwriting is so cool. Congrats on a great FAWM!
[avatar]
Audrey, Thank You for commenting on so many of my songs. I really appreciate it. You have once more produced some lovely songs. I love putting on the headphones and listen to your creations. I always get some vivid imagery. Thanks for sharing them.
[avatar]
Hi Audrey! My goodness I’m not sure how I haven’t checked in or listened! Well I will fix that this weekend. I look forward to what you created this year.

@muz
Everyone thinks my lantern songs are metal! And I'm not even a metalhead ;-)!

@muz
Thanks very much for reading my lyrics. I enjoyed being a part of FAWM very much. It's been a blast! It's all thanks to @WobbieWobbit for encouraging me to have a go. I said to her, "I've never written even one full song" and she just said, "give it a go, you might enjoy it". And she was right!
[avatar]
thanks so much! glad you liked Urban Fox :) and for the recommendation post. I promise to get to some of yours soon!

@ryuu
re: your counterpoint question - that's a hard one for me. I learned counterpoint first in music school and then I had to do a pretty hard class for my musicology degree. But the little bit of literature I could recommend is all in German.
Probably studying the existing music will also give you a lot of pointers if you know what you're looking for.

I streamed part of my composition process here: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1744995374?tt_medium=mobile_web_share&tt_content=vod
(should still be available for a few days)

(and thank you for your comment, btw!)

Thank you very much on your kind comment on ”I’m like bubble gum”. Looking forward to hearing your songs!

@kiffa
Thank you so much for your thoughtful comments on "Easter Sunday". And when I read "I'm not playing any of those simulated instruments you hear" on your profile, I was like "Aaaahhh! I'm not the only one!!!" lol. I mean, I *used to* perform the instruments on my songs, but as I've let the machines take over, the quality of the music has only improved lol.

Thank you so much for your kind comments on The Leaving Never Ends. The Demo has been updated!

Thank you for your comments. I love your french, you don't have to apologise. I'll be back in march for more listening and commenting. Hope you'll drop by.

Thanks for your kind comments. I admit I had a great time with the rhymes on Remedial: sonic pleasures/diatonic measures being my favorite!
[avatar]
It was lovely to get your comments on "Flaco the Eurasian Eagle Owl" and "When You're Famous." Thank you!
[avatar]
hi. Thanks so much for listening and for your thoughtful comment :)

@muz
I haven't forgotten them. I just haven't done them yet! @WobbieWobbit told me that we can't upload any songs after the end of February but if I leave titles as placeholders, I can edit them to put the songs in. So thats what I've done.

It's going to be a nine song cycle on the colours of the lantern corps. I've done green and red. I'm working on blue. And hopefully I'll get the rest done this week. It was @PopMythology's idea I do a song cycle - so he gets the credit for that. I was hoping to speak to him about it, so it could be more of a collab but he's busy moving home, so I'm relying on the net for stories about them. I hope I haven't missed any of the colours!

Well, I've just completed the blue lantern song. So three down and six to go!
[avatar]
Thank you so much for all the lovely comments! I'm now busy completing my album but will check your tracks out later 😊

Thanks for stopping by. Your use of Sibelius to create your songs sounds fantastic.

Hey Audrey, a heartfelt "Thank You!" for your kind comment on "H2 sucht O"! Means a lot coming from you. Anyway, I've now added the vocals. Hope you still like it πŸ˜€

@sollis
Thank you for the lovely comment you left on 'Ampek 602', Audrey! It feels nice to know that people get something good out of listening to it :)

I'm diving into your music as I speak. I was delighted to see you had tracks dedicated to two of my favourite animals and couldn't resist!
[avatar]
Hi Audrey, can't tell you how grateful I am for the kind comment and recommend on 'Sister'! It's a really special song to me, so I'm honoured that it resonated :)

Thanks for your comment on "Backards". I'm glad you enjoyed. We're quite in an early stage; I use finished composing and arrangement. I hope we get some musicians to rock. I don't know about @katestantonsings plans yet. Surprise?
[avatar]
thank you audrey for listening to my music and recommending my song! i am so happy to have found you!
[avatar]
@audrey - Thanks for your encouragement, and your comments on "Over Easy" and "Proof," and thanks especially for the advice on proper commenting! I appreciate you helping out a newbie!
[avatar]
Audrey, I was so happy to see you back on FAWM this year. I had to bail on last years after a couple of songs, so I missed most of what you did last year. So far this season you have produced some very fine material.
[avatar]
@ayais
Can I send you a mix using Aftermath with a mostly spoken vocal track? Dan

@jamkar

Hi Audrey! A little late, but I'm here to listen!
[avatar]
Thank you. Feel like I should've called it 'Sympathy for a Sloth'. πŸ˜‚
[avatar]
Hi Audrey! Thanks for commenting on "This is how I start over." Really appreciate it.
[avatar]
Every year putting that first song out is, for me, like taking a dive off the high diving board. I'm glad you persisted through all those attempts. Sometimes a little humor can cut through all the barriers! May the rest of your FAWM be productive!
[avatar]
Thanks for checking out Decimal Day and I’m glad you enjoyed it.
[avatar]
Hi Thanks for stopping by and listening and then trying the facebook link. I've uploaded the file a second time (the past three days of crazy not-being-able to upload anything have sent me in a spin.. Hopefully that will work..
Best Liz
