Ok I'm going to make an experimental blues album this year. Realistically it won't sound anything like the blues because I'm not interested in repeating what's already been done.

I need to set myself some rules because I find limitations actually incredibly good for creativity.
1. An experimental blues album demands an experimental blues language I think. So on these songs I will utter no words, just the primal noises of toil all men and low voiced women will be familiar with.
2. I will push my homemade Fenson Jazzbird guitar into places guitars are usually forbidden to go
3. I will capture and use low frequency melodies groaned from the earth itself
4. I will shackle some epileptic tribal behemoth to my drumkit for the best in rhythmic diversity

Yeah, thanks for recommending my music. Much appreciated!!

@fuzzy
Thanx for the @frozenlonesome recommendation.
Loving their stuff.

@fuzzy
I do believe I have heard Frozenlonesome, but I will now focus on listening to them.

Thanks for listening and your kind comments on Play Safe - Frisbee and Cycling Proficiency Centre. I’ve been having a lot of fun mangling the vintage public service announcements this year and am glad you enjoyed them.

I just posted my homage to your songs: https://write.fawm.org/songs/21261. It was totally inspired by your work. Of course, it doesn't sound anything like your stuff because 1) I'm a different person, and 2) I just started to learn how to use my DAW.

I got a lot of joy out of going back and forth -- listening to your songs, then going into my DAW -- trying to come up with ways to get similar effects myself, and failing in ways I found interesting.

Thanks for what you create!

Yes, here I am playing an as-yet-unreleased tune on my Melodica about the Norman Invasion, written as events were unfolding...

Definitely tell Tina I say hi and yes I still listen to DG. No doubt, you've definitely made a name in your own right with what you are doing. Add to that if Fawm can be graced with the privilege of new Disaster Girl songs (life is too short to be "splitting up" you know), I'll be first in line to drink a barrel of yeast urine (that's alcohol in case you didn't know). Either way, I'm enjoying and will continue to enjoy - as long as you deliver -, my fix of Silvermachine madness.

@fuzzy
And that is in no way hyperbole.

Saw you wrote this on @ericalbert's page; "The only thing I am aware of is a desire to experiment, whereas everybody else seems to be content to just mimic the artists they admire. To avoid sounding like everyone else you have to reject what is normal."
I couldn't have said it better myself.
You have bonked the nail on the head, there, sir.

Thanks for your thoughts on how you do what you do. I spent part of this afternoon working on an homage to your work, which is also a project of trying to learn more about my DAW, where I'm still a rank beginner. Of course mine sounds nothing like yours.

I don't think it's that hard to be repetitive and catchy. And not so hard to be wildly experimental, if you don't care about listeners. To do both is quite a trick. You certainly pitch stuff right at my sweet spot. If there's a way to follow you after FAWM is over, I'd love to know it -- thanks.

Hi SM…yes, the chorus is just like the verse…I was hoping something better/different might jump out at me, but nothing did, so I thought I’d just finish it off as best I can and get back into it. I’m beginning to find the ideas harder to come by now. Ta for your kindness and honesty 👍🏻

@leepat
yup, well observed. gauge .11 or .12 - not easy to bend. thx for listening!
[avatar]
That was a lovely thing to say…thank you!
[avatar]
Hey! Never knew you were the other half of Disaster Girl. I still listen to that great music. :-)
[avatar]
Thank you for your support...you're a massive help to me.

@candle
Thanks for the great comments. Glad you're enjoying the music.

No probs, I felt it was my duty to amplify your signal,
[avatar]
Brilliant song! Love it.

Hi SM…great to see you’re still around. I wasn’t going to get involved this year, but I think I have an idea of something silly to try…

@candle
I have to admit, she is the one person I willfully give up my Freedom for. But then, she is part of me, so am I really given my Freedom over to someone else? Perhaps not…

@beej
69? No fyckin way.

Bob was one of the good guys. I aspire (though largely fail) to be as chilled as he was. And oh, to have that much hair...

@candle
Happy FAWMing! Looking forward to what numbers 1 thru 4 will give us as a sonic experiænce.

See You In The Shadows…

Oh, this sounds promising. Good to see you once again, good sir.
("Epilectic Tribal Behemoth" is a truly great album title, by the way.)
[avatar]
@beej
Back. With a vengeance… quite an organised one it seems
[avatar]
Greetings to you good sir....I just love your goals! Hahahaha....Anyway, great to see you back and around these parts. I will be listening....
[avatar]
Order is restored now that @silvermachine is back...
[avatar]
Welcome back mate! This is gonna be a fun one, I can feel it!
[avatar]
@fuzzy
Yeah, I used it all though the last half of 50/90.
I also have a distortion pedal, so I use it with the bass guitar and then turn the "overdrive" knob all the way up on the amp.
It's like trying to harness an angry elephant.
(I also used Crazy Ivan on a bunch of songs this summer too, so thanks so much for that!)

@fuzzy
Silvermachine!!!
Gosh I sure hope you're back!

Hello, hope to hear some music from you this FAWM! Last year's stuff was awesome, as with all years prior.
