EP: Game On (My very goofy silly video game related EP)
Ok. I'll explain this one. I did a Let's Play series on my Youtube channel of the game Battlespire. From a really zoomed out perspective the plot was kind of like Doom... but Elder Scrolls. So I originally went into this thinking of a modern Doom soundtrack but as I started writing the lyrics (and giggling), I found the song was just starting to sound like a terrible Five Finger Death Punch song (So, most of them?). So... I think I'm gonna go dumb as shit buttrock with this one.

I have been struggling so badly with confidence and dysphoria... and I just needed to make something stupid and dumb to practice with.
My vocals are all over the place, the music is also all over the place... but I did it... and I can build off of it. I'm not happy with it musically, or vocally... the performance is inconsistent and mixed like shit, but I did it. I put something out with my voice in it. For the final version I'll probably go back and redo a lot of the guitars... and all of the vocals... but my battery on my laptop was running out and I just wanted to hit a point where I could say "Good enough".

Didn't even read the other comments or the description before I thought "damn, these are some killer vocals". I think you are really good conveying emotion, and that gritty sound you seem to produce very naturally is awesome! All around great riffing and a track that rocks hard!

@paul_pedersen Thanks! This is my first time recording vocals in like... 12 years. I'm glad you had a blast. I was super insecure about it.

Well, this song and then writing "The Witch Of Freaktown" kind of revealed a few things to me. My voice is definitely not at its best when I'm doing this kind of singing, and I think that came through with the lack of confidence I had. I think I'm going to tackle Voices next... but I want to try a more jazz-like vocal style. Depending on how that goes, I might slide over and do The Witch Of Freaktown after with a bit more of a swing vibe, but we'll see.

As you may have noticed, with my own stuff I tend to be comfortable somewhere between ballad and ballad. That said, I had a blast listening to this. It rocks out and I really enjoyed it. What's next?

The "silliness" works really well in this genre (I mean, look at the lyrics to ...any heavy music) - "Even my socks are fucking enchanted " killed me.

I think your vocals work great stylistically here! I wouldn't hesitate to do more.

this is metal as hell!

'good enough' is i think the best way to approach to FAWM. it's so easy to nitpick yourself and then you end up not getting anything out. which isn't to say that this isn't good. it is! and very fun too! personally, i love the little interlude in the second verse. it's awesome.

sorry vocal dysphoria is getting you down. it's a real bitch for sure. but you rocked this. good job

@headfirstonly Thank you so much for those kind words. I really hate what testosterone did to my voice and so I can't hear it without just hating everything about it. So, I'm really a terrible judge of if it's any good or not. Your compliments really mean a lot to me and have made my day. Thank you. My confidence just got a bit of a bump.
