This is the first for a while, took most of last year off from songwriting.
It's inspired by a rhythm I tapped out on a cup with a spoon while making some tea. I would normally forget it, but thought,
"Hey that FAWM thing has started, let's see if this goes anywhere."
So cracked open the laptop and tapped out the rhythm for some agogos or bells or cymbals. It didn't sound good.
"Well that's that then, failure, back to daytime TV."
As an afterthought I tried congas, it sounded ok, put on a cowbell, then used the loaded drum loops, which turned out to the wrong template, probably created by young people for a genre I've never heard of.
It sorta developed from there. I would hope that it sounds like the end credits theme, for an early to mid 80s, straight to video, really bad, SIFI movie.
Well that's what I was aiming for.
In fact that's what I'm always aiming for.

None, it's an instrumental. Duh.

I can feel the straight-to-video 80s sci-fi vibe. Around 1:40 it really comes into that sort of sound. Not sure about the hats with the clicky sort of sound, for me that's a bit more modern sounding. The snare and tom fills, though, are 100% spot-on.
