Skirmish for a Summer Song. Consider this a first draft. It's all about expectations, from the standpoint of 20 year old me for the verses, and the older me in the Chorus. Demo to follow.... Edit, 2/5/25: demo posted! "Awesome Vacation" parsed better than "Stellar Vacation", so the name's been changed to protect the atonal. Last FAWM, the Boston-area FAWMers got together for an open mic nite, and I was wishing I had a song I could play on #acoustic guitar; I hope we'll gather again this April or whatever.... #skirmish #singersongwriter #personwithguitar #summer #vacation

Wish I was still in Boston for that Boston FAWMers open mic, man that would’ve been something! Just moved 2 years ago.

As for this song, I love the cadences in the rhymes you used. It’s uncommon and a really nice touch! The melody is wonderful and catchy. Gives me hope for a fun summer time and to get out of this rut I’ve been in since winter begun! Great work.

Thanks for the comments @dudacris and @dotsandlines. I probably should've asked @mandolinda to add a mandolin part! Until then, the final (well, nothing's ever truly final) demo posted, along with a new third verse. Better late than never!

I'm particularly interested in how the beer, clear, year rhymes come out. I think sometimes I'm kinda stale in how I deliver my lines to the music and something like this is intriguing and I may want to mimic it to learn it 🔤 🔢 . Thanks for sharing!!

Ooh, this is more emotionally complex than I anticipated. The eagerness for a good time ahead, the various inconveniences, and then the bittersweetness of time... I'd love to hear this with the demo. :)
