Lyrics

Currents strong and stormy tension, Brindle's got some apprehension
And lo, what's that? A scarlet morning? Maybe it's a sailor's warning
Reef those sails and first-mate prepare, I won’t leave you cast adrift there
All your maps and markers undone, but I will take you straight to Nelson

Save Our Souls and what's that Sound? A place where you could run aground
If you feel a little sorry for yourself I'll guide you home

So throw away your dusty atlas, I'll guide you through the Kupe pet pass
And though this life may seem so austere, stick with me and we can cohere
But steal my name and thieve my branding, wind your necks and wind your nets in
Take your shot and miss the target, and you can find your way to regret it

Save Our Souls and what's that Sound? A place where you could run aground
If you feel a little sorry for yourself I'll guide you home

+1 on the pleasing internal rhymes - they feel so natural as well, not shoehorned in or anything. The pre-chorus is such an earworm! Love the urgency of the track, barely any time to breath, and the Peter Hook-esque high bass line that follows the vocal is a cool idea

Lovely crunchy stuff! The save our souls hook in the chorus works really well and the internal rhymes in the verses are extremely pleasing!

Nice write about the peculiar dolphin. The lyrics flow very well with the distorted guitars and syncopated drums your vocals are warm and pleasant. Quite nice overall.

Oh, I’m a sucker for a nautical song. And what a cool inspiration - I’d never heard that story, and to write it from the point of view of the dolphin? A great write and I love the indie-rock treatment. Production-wise, I really like the overlapping vocals on the last line of the chorus.
