This is the second Character Soundtrack Exposé taken from the novel I'm currently writing called "The Protomaton." This song delves into the murky past of one of the important main characters, Claire Walker. She is a Fallen immortal, a former loyal servant to the godlike machine known as the Protomaton, & now a saboteaur - as well as someone who convinces & helps other servants of the Protomaton to sever their own connections & become one of the Fallen. Through the song we find out a little bit more about her motivations and her connection to the Fallen Assassin, Richard Barnes.

I started working on this song during my lunch ½ hour today at work (Feb 6). Finished it up when I got home tonight. Like the first OST track, this is built completely in Jeskola Buzz. Two instances of HG Fortune's fabulous Arracis Gold Pro VSTi built the musical bed, while his Percumat 2 VSTi gives us the drum beat. The vocals were created using another Text-To-Speech (TTS) AI service. This time, I used the one availble on the site luvvoices. The vocals were played back in Buzz via WDE's amazing Audio Block Buzz Machine (native Buzz insturment). All of these audio sources were then processed through a rack of native Buzz Machines.

The moment that I watched Katie sacrifice herself, I knew that my world had changed completely. I would never be able to blindly serve the Protomaton ever again, not after what it did to her. As Richard and I watched her terrible fate unfold, we both knew in that instant that we were going to have to sever our connection with the Protomaton. We accepted that we would fall. It was the last gift that Katie had given us. Richard and I vowed that we would not let her sacrifice be in vein. It was at that moment that we both stepped forth on the path that we now follow. The path that will one day lead us to the destruction of our creator.

So now I spend my time in the guise of a hydro worker. This disguise allows me to infiltrate various complexes controlled by the Protomaton. And once inside, I do my best to sabotage them, to make them inoperable. It's dangerous work, but it's the least I can do in order to preserve Katie's memory and validate the sacrifice she made in order to save Richard and I.
