Now back to 'Signs of Life 2' (why is nobody cheering? 😀 )

Picture taken in Kennington, London.

Who is Neil Oliver I hear you ask. .https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neil_Oliver
Well, he's a mad climate change denier (amongst other unpleasant things); but he used to be the presenter of a TV Program that I didn't mind to watch. So this song is really a comment on that awful sink of the stomach when people from twenty years ago who you quite liked reveal themselves to be loonies later in life. (cf. Morrissey) What does it say about you?

Lyrics

Neil Oliver you’re one
helluva
nut - Look at the lunacy
Spilling out of you

Royal Society
of Edinburgh has
had enough of your mad views
now the two of you are through

To me you’ll always be that guy I used to see on my TV
On slow amble round the British coastline
Found you quite disarming, wee bit dull but oddly charming
But now you’re quite alarming; have you lost your mind?

Neil Oliver you took one
helluva
Fall down from the
hallowed halls of the BBC

Neil Oliver you sold one
Helluva lie,
about the climate change live on GB news

Seems to me conspiracy’s a misinformed man's industry
But then again you’ve got a masters in archaeology
What went wrong or were you always secretly this vexed?
You’ll likely blame the measles on immigration next

Were you right after all? Well we shall see
If and when Sterling sinks beneath the seas
SOLO

Picking fights with weathermen that you would always lose
Makes you the doyenne of the crackpot scene
Is this some long game that you’re playing? Is that it?
or are your brain cells slowly, surely fraying?

John Oliver and
Neil Oliver
Don’t you ever get confused and mix them up

One’s a comedian,
Made of mad tedium,
The other rules his medium
On ‘Last week tonight’’

So sad to hear that he's a denier. Good stuff. I watched his shows as well, but always thought he loved himself a bit too much. It was the way he flicked his hair back. Gotta be suspicious of that sort of thing. Anyhow, good stuff, as ever sir

I remember him and liking him years ago and he's not the only one that went, for the want of a better word, bonkers. I have had that stomach sinking feeling way too many times. Excellent rant.

this is the second song about a Neil, I hear tonight. And I just love rants. I didn´t know him yet, but he sounds just the person who deserves these lyrics. Love it. Great work

Ahh, GB News - a literal smorgasbord of inspiration for songs about the darker side of humanity (along with the Daily Mail and Jeremy Clarkson of course).

Too funny! Love it! Great lyric of some of the insanity we’re dealing with on both sides of the pond! Write on!!

Was sitting giggling all the way through this, particularly when the fuzz guitar arrived. The guy really drank the kool-aid in a big way, didn't he? A warning for us all.
