During the early part of my career I spent about 2 decades doing basic science research, ultimately running a molecular genetics cancer biology lab doing federally funded research identifying genes and proteins important in cell cycle and cell division as relevant to solid tumor malignancies, largely breast cancers. Women that were in my lab doing research for their PhDs continue to do basic science research related to breast cancer. I could not be prouder of them as they now teach and mentor students of their own and do great science. We have all had many late lab nights and grant writing marathons. This is a nod to them as well as my love for music!

Gosh you know some big words! :-) When Jeff was here I played him your big band song w/ AI Suno and he instantly sat up and his eyes popped out and he was captivated. Then I said "the singer is AI too" and he was blown away that you provided the lyrics and some notes about the style you wanted and AI Suno did the rest. It's the most interested I've seen him look about anything in decades! He prides himself on being state-of-the-art with hi-tech and he hadn't heard of AI Suno before (I got to show him something new, woo hoo!)

Damn, AI plays guitar better than I do. 😀 I think this pretty good. It's got a really fun jaunt to it. I do wish AI had known to put a pause before that last line of the chorus for more dramatic emphasis, but other than that, it's pretty perfect.

I really enjoyed this :) the lyrics are a window into the sweat equity behind the breakthroughs. seriously, good luck to all the U.S.-based researchers out there writing grants for federal funds in 2025 iykyk...

i thought "the women in my lab are rockstars" was a nice touch, bringing the guitar-ness and the women-in-science-ness themes together at a climactic moment!

The wife and I have been watching Big Bang Theory lately and this feels like it could be on that show! Lots of words that I don't know, so props for writing a detailed lyric that is also fun!

I think this is brilliant. And I think it would be pretty cool if it were picked up by someone. I have a little bit of a backlog myself, but just in case, I have not listened to the demo... If I come back later and it hasn't been claimed, maybe I will. I think it would be fun to sing those words...
