Where To Find Me

by @jacobwakeup

Liner Notes

Not my corniest or cheesiest song, but certainly in the top 5!

- I was trying to see how many different melodies I could put on the same chords; put another way, could I write a song without relying on the chords to do all the work
- I was trying to avoid my usual forms; I think I somehow ended up doing the same thing I always do.

I could see keeping the chorus and hook and rewriting the verses entirely.

Lyrics

It might not be that crowded; there might not be a stage.
But we got everything we need, we know we got it made.
You might get paid in cash, and I might get paid in beer.
There's nowhere I'd rather be than with my people here.

You can find me in the pit or find me at the bar.
Find me at the merch table, stringing my guitar.

When you end up in a place where everybody knows your face
That’s where you’ll find me.

You know, you know. You know where to find me.
You know, you know. You know where to find me.

When does this show begin? No one really knows.
The same for when it ends, and it keeps us on our toes.
Can't put you on the list, but you can carry in my gear.
You're coming to the show tonight; I keep my people near.

You can find on the dance floor or find me at the bar.
Find me in the green room stringing my guitar.

When you end up in a spot with all the best friends that you've got.
That’s where you’ll find me

You know, you know. You know where to find me.
You know, you know. You know where to find me.

When you end up in a place where everybody knows your face.
That’s where you’ll find me.

You know, you know. You know where to find me.
You know, you know. You know where to find me.

Great job distilling the essence of what it means to be in the trenches as a musician just loving what you’re doing. The music somehow fits the vibe perfectly. I love the instrumental break in particular. And the lyrics do a fantastic job capturing the comeraderie of the scene.

Put a smile on my face... thanks
I needed that!

Nice beat - kind of reggae? Nice vocal delivery and I really like the pacing of the lyrics. Wonderful transition to the chorus with the short line at the end of your verse. Nice chorus too - memorable and a nice use of repetition. Nice production too. I am about to go out and shovel some snow, so I needed something up beat and energizing - and now I am ready! I really enjoyed your song.
