Liner Notes

Tfish: Adam sent me over this killer guitar track yesterday, which sounded a lot like Paradise City but then went in a different direction. As usual, his work immediately inspired me to come up with a key part, melody, lyrics, and various drum sounds.

I mixed it all together, and now we have a new #TheArchivists song.

The lyrics are pretty cheesy and they're kind of an echo of a song Adam and I wrote for FAWM back in 2020 or something like that. I guess it's OK to write upbeat lyrics once out of every 30 songs or so, right?

Calfman: "Sounds good, ship it"

Lyrics

sometimes you feel like you're all alone
when you feel your heart
being torn apart
dipped in acetone

sometimes it feels like all hope is lost
when you feel the doom
like it's in the room
and your eyes are crossed

sometimes you just feel like giving up
when there's no one here
who can lend an ear
try to fill your cup

sometimes the gap is uncrossable
when you're at the edge
standing on the ledge
it's impossible

you gotta believe
you gotta believe
you gotta believe
you gotta believe

sometimes the story's not over yet
even at the end
you can make a friend
find a safer bet

sometimes you're stronger than you know
when you reach inside
all the tears you've cried
fed the fire below

you gotta believe
you gotta believe
you gotta believe
you gotta believe

Quite an awesome mix of sounds, from the gigantic bass synth to the mid heavy riff guitar to the electronic spacey dance drum, which really lifts this higher. I love the melody phrasing and the whole thing is super fun. Killer

The trap snares are where this rises above regular-degular arena rock. Well done!

Great song and fabulous harmonies! The lyric “heart being torn apart dipped in acetone” is fantastic, and quite evocative. (Reminds me of histology lab!)
