@fonte did these tasty guitar chords in a 3 bar pattern, @bigmood added the bass and vocals and voila!

@bigmood: I keep writing these really vague exhort-y songs that describe how I feel about an amalgamation of current events without being very concrete. Trying to maintain an internal sense of self in the middle of a cultural sea change that feels dangerous.

Lyrics

old news
you can’t keep sticking to the same views
wasted
wasted my time in trying to change it

come so far
be hard to take it away
but it’s the same old thing
who you are
is no reason to be ashamed
and oh my god
don’t crash the car
if you can still stay on the rail
don’t mash your heart
and put it up for sale

small world
I want to duck into an oyster
hold out
emerging when the party’s over

come so far
be hard to take it away
but it’s the same old thing
who you are
is no reason not to change
and oh my god
don’t crash the car
if can stay on the rail

Yes! Great elements that fit so well. "small world, I want to duck into an oyster", amazing. How you use your voice on that melody line is just perfect.

Excellent lofi groove! The vocal phrasing through those chords is a lot of fun to hear.

This is great! To state the obvious, that vocal work is absolutely superb! That bass line is funky as all hell too. Those three chords make a really solid foundation for the track. Really enjoyed this - excellent!

I love the 3 line structure on the 'come so far..' sections. The bass is great, and I love the variety in the harmonies/delivery on the vocals to keep the vibe interesting.

those are some tasty guitar chords indeed....love what you turned this into. I like that I want to duck into an oyster part, that gives voice to a lot of what I'm feeling these days (though I should say "party's" over). Great bass playing, really nice song this is!

Yeeeees, always enjoy your collabs. Totally agree with @hanley about the Solange comparison - it has that lo-fi alt-rnb vibe. Kaeli's voxs as brilliant as always, love that lower register stuff. So many cool elements, and I'm a big fan of the saturation on the track generally... has that been applied to certain tracks or on the master? Teach me! :) Glorious inventive.

Siiick tune!
digging all the layers and textures, and those guit chords are so dope, awesome how you pitch shift it right up every now and then.
Your vocals and phrasing is giving me throwbacks to Solange’s ‘Seat At The Table’, fricken loved that album!
That Bass is so chunky and hits the right spot without overdoing it.
It must feel like a pretty wild ride to be living in US right now, so this kind of internal reflection sounds cathartic.

Yummy jazz chords and loving that hyperactive beat. The soft, chill vocals (and harmonies) are soooo good, as is the funky bass line. The words really convey a sense of scary changes but also dislocation and numbness. “I want to duck into an oyster” is one of my favourite lines this FAWM. Stellar collab!

Ohh.. tasty! Lovely vocals. Very.. Grrreat track and lyrics are good and a great fit with the song.

Such a good line:
"who you are
is no reason not to change"
