Paid for all our tickets and several bags of feed
Debated on the first thing we would do

They pointed to the gift shop plush monkeys on display
I told them, maybe later, we’ll be coming back this way
The aviary beckoned the birds soared up above
And one bedraggled peacock put his feathers on display

To remember that special time and place

The reptile house came shortly Displayed safely behind glass
The older two were fascinated by a snake with blue eyes

Let’s go next door and see the butterflies

The carnivore pavilion had what I came to see
Lions, tigers, cheetas Are they friends or competitors?
Across a very high fence the giraffes were eating leaves
And keeping their distance from their predators
